Signing of the agreement between Uría Menéndez and the Iberdrola Group at Iberdrola's headquarters in Madrid

Carbon2Nature, a company of the Iberdrola Group, and Uría Menéndez have announced the launch of El Bosque Uría, an ambitious environmental and social impact project that consolidates their commitment to sustainability, biodiversity, and action against climate change.

The initiative will capture more than 70,000 tonnes of CO₂ over the next 50 years and will contribute to the restoration of the ecosystem and biodiversity, benefiting an area near the Las Batuecas–Sierra de Francia Natural Park, in Salamanca.

Specifically, the project has acquired the carbon absorption rights over 90 hectares for 10 years and has already planted more than 134,000 native trees in 2025, including pines, oaks, hawthorns, strawberry trees, and junipers.

The signing of the agreement took place at Iberdrola’s headquarters in Madrid, with the participation of Santiago Martínez Garrido (General Secretary and of the Board of the Iberdrola Group), Agustín Delgado (Director of Technology of the Iberdrola Group), Jesús Remón (Managing Partner of Uría Menéndez), and Salvador Sánchez-Terán (Managing Partner of Uría Menéndez).

This initiative is part of a pioneering decarbonisation plan for the legal practice promoted by the Iberdrola Group, which supports collaborating law firms in measuring, reducing, and offsetting their carbon footprint, through solutions like those offered by Carbon2Nature. However, this project is much more than a compensation action: it is a commitment to biodiversity, resilience against climate change, protection of water resources, and the revitalisation of an area affected by depopulation.
