Iberdrola España to supply renewable energy to Seville’s traffic signal network

Over the next two years, the company will supply 100% renewable electricity to the traffic signal network and associated facilities managed by Seville City Council

Iberdrola España has been awarded a two-year contract to supply 100% renewable electricity to Seville’s traffic signal network and associated facilities. The agreement will ensure that one of the city’s key infrastructure systems for traffic management and road safety is powered entirely by renewable energy.

The contract currently covers 394 supply points associated with the traffic signal network, a figure that is expected to rise above 400 as additional connections are brought online during the term of the agreement.

All contracted supply points have a capacity of less than 10 kW and operate continuously, 24 hours a day, to ensure the uninterrupted operation of the equipment responsible for maintaining the safe and efficient movement of vehicles and pedestrians throughout the city.

This agreement further strengthens Iberdrola España’s collaboration with public authorities in advancing the use of renewable energy to power essential urban infrastructure.

Renewable energy leadership in Andalusia

Iberdrola España remains the leading renewable energy company in Andalusia, with more than 1,500 MW of installed renewable capacity. In recent years, the company has invested more than €3 billion in the region, generating an economic impact of nearly €1.8 billion over the past two financial years while working with more than 220 Andalusian suppliers.

In electric mobility, Iberdrola España already operates more than 1,600 public charging points across Andalusia and is working with BP to deploy a further 200 high-power charging points throughout the region, helping accelerate the transition to a cleaner, more sustainable and efficient mobility model.
