Iberdrola España and VTC Andalucía, Ceuta and Melilla renew partnership to accelerate the electrification of commercial transport

The renewed agreement introduces new benefits for professionals in the sector and strengthens collaboration to promote electric mobility in Andalusia and support the ride-hailing industry's decarbonisation

Iberdrola España and VTC Andalucía, Ceuta and Melilla have renewed the collaboration agreement they first signed in 2024 to continue promoting electric mobility and accelerate the electrification of commercial vehicle fleets across Andalusia.

The renewed partnership reinforces both organisations' commitment to the energy transition and will help bring the benefits of electric mobility to professionals in the private hire sector, supporting a more efficient and sustainable transport model.

Under the agreement, members of VTC Andalucía, Ceuta and Melilla will continue to benefit from preferential rates at Iberdrola España's public charging network. They will also have access to charging solutions for depots and garages, as well as the opportunity to propose strategic locations for new public charging points.

The agreement also strengthens collaboration between the two organisations to further promote the electrification of commercial transport and support the continued expansion of a charging network that is more extensive, accessible and better suited to the sector's needs.

The ride-hailing industry in Andalusia—and across Spain—is making significant progress towards electrification. During the first half of the year, 48% of all new vehicle registrations in the sector were fully electric.

The renewal of the agreement comes as Iberdrola España continues to expand its charging infrastructure in Andalusia. The company now operates more than 1,600 public charging points across the region—40% more than a year ago—making Andalusia one of the Spanish regions with the most extensive charging networks.

More than 200 of these charging points offer fast, super-fast or ultra-fast charging, making it easier for professionals and businesses to carry out their daily operations while also supporting long-distance travel. Nationwide, Iberdrola España now operates more than 11,000 public charging points, the largest charging network in Spain.

The electrification of transport is one of the key drivers of the energy transition, helping to reduce dependence on imported fossil fuels, improve energy efficiency and accelerate the decarbonisation of the economy. Against this backdrop, the partnership between Iberdrola España and VTC Andalucía, Ceuta and Melilla will help extend the benefits of electric mobility to a sector that plays a vital role in passenger transport across the region.
