The travelling exhibition can be visited from 24 July to 6 September, bringing its tour of five municipalities across the Region to a close.
Promoted by Fundación Iberdrola España, the exhibition has travelled to numerous autonomous communities and will continue its journey to other parts of the country.

With this stop the exhibition brings its tour of the region to a close, having previously visited Cehegín, Murcia, Lorca and San Javier.

Mazarrón's Plaza de las Comunidades Autónomas has been transformed into a large open-air museum until 6 September with the arrival of ‘El Prado in the Streets’, the travelling exhibition organised by the Museo Nacional del Prado and Fundación Iberdrola España, in collaboration with the Regional Government of Murcia and Mazarrón Town Council.

With this final stop, the exhibition brings its tour of the region of Murcia to a close after visiting Cehegín, Murcia, Lorca and San Javier, bringing art and cultural heritage closer to thousands of people through an accessible, free exhibition open to all.

The opening event was attended by Ginés Campillo, Mayor of Mazarrón; Carmen María Conesa, Regional Minister for Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sports of the Region of Murcia; Fernando Pérez, Management Officer for General Education Coordination at the Museo del Prado; Patricio Sánchez López, Director General for Heritage at the Regional Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sports; Ramón Castresana, Director of Fundación Iberdrola España; and Miguel Ángel Cerdán, Iberdrola's Institutional Delegate for the Murcia region.

The exhibition features 50 large-format photographic reproductions of some of the most iconic works from the Museo del Prado's collection, offering visitors a journey through the major European artistic schools with masterpieces by Velázquez, Goya, Rubens, Rembrandt, Dürer, Bosch, Caravaggio, Titian and Sorolla, among others.

Each artwork is accompanied by clear explanatory texts and captions that help visitors understand who painted it, the story it tells and why it is significant. In this way, the exhibition also becomes an educational experience for visitors of all ages. To further enrich the visit, each bilingual information panel includes QR codes providing access to additional content about the Museo del Prado's collections.

Since its launch, ‘El Prado in the Streets’ has established itself as one of the Museo Nacional del Prado's and Fundación Iberdrola España's most successful cultural outreach initiatives. The exhibition has toured numerous municipalities across Spain with the aim of democratising access to culture and bringing universal art to new audiences. In the Murcia region, the project has transformed squares, promenades and public spaces into genuine open-air galleries, creating opportunities for residents and visitors alike to enjoy some of the most celebrated works in the history of painting.
