Under the collaboration agreements signed between the Basque Government's Department of Safety and Security and and the Iberdrola Group (of which Iberdrola España is part), the Minister for Safety and Security, Bingen Zupiria, visited the company's Berroeta Corporate Centre on Wednesday, 10 July.  He was accompanied by the heads of his department and Iberdrola España executives: Asís Canales, Director of Services and Resources, Javier Arriola, Director of the Northern Region of i-DE, Iberdrola España's distribution company, and José Miguel Gordillo, Director of Corporate Security.

During the visit, the authorities visited the facilities of the Distribution Operation Centre, where the electricity supply grid for the Basque Country is operated, and the Global Cyber Fusion Centre, the company's coordination centre for digital threats.

Last May, Iberdrola Group signed two agreements with the Ertzaintza, the local Basque police. One, linked to cybersecurity, and another more general agreement related to security. Both agreements provide for training activities and mutual cooperation in the use of facilities and resources, as well as prevention and research in public safety.

The visit is also part of the agreement in force between i-DE, Iberdrola España's distribution company, and SOS Deiak 112 to coordinate security and emergency incidents.
