At Iberdrola España we attach great importance to our suppliers’ sustainable practices, and SMEs are fundamental to this commitment. Find out about all our initiatives to strengthen the sustainability of the small and medium-sized companies we work with in Spain.
We offer tools that help small and medium-sized enterprises play a full and active role in the energy transition.
In recent years, Iberdrola España has developed an innovative strategy to support the creation and consolidation of new sustainable, transparent, and ethical business projects. It has strengthened its commitment to SME suppliers through various initiatives that seek to improve the profile of small and medium-sized companies as drivers of sustainable development, among other objectives. Some of these initiatives are presented below.
Iberdrola España has taken part in the third edition of the Training Programme: Sustainable Suppliers, a free and exclusive initiative aimed at professionals from its SME suppliers. The programme has been jointly developed by the UN Global Compact in Spain and the United Kingdom, ICEX Spain Trade and Investment and the ICO Foundation.
This latest edition began on 12 March 2025, offering the SME suppliers for the Iberdrola Group, of which Iberdrola España is a part, an excellent opportunity to expand their knowledge, align with best practices in sustainability and strengthen their competitiveness.
Following the programme’s conclusion on 28 October 2025, a very positive final assessment was made for Iberdrola España’s SME suppliers: of the more than 360 suppliers initially registered, a total of 168 successfully completed the training, thereby improving their sustainability capabilities. What’s more, the level of satisfaction was remarkable, as more than 90% of participants considered the training useful for their company, reflecting the trust and effectiveness of this initiative.
With the excellent results achieved in this edition, together with those of the previous two, more than 800 Iberdrola Group SME suppliers have now received training through the programme.
Iberdrola España will renew its collaboration with the UN Global Compact in Spain for the upcoming edition, which will begin in March 2026.

In collaboration with the UN Global Compact Spain, we offer a pioneering training plan with exclusive content on sustainability and incentives for CEOs and managers of small and medium-sized enterprises.
In these video sessions, the main trends, opportunities, regulations and practical actions on sustainability are discussed in depth so that CEOs or an SME manager can integrate them into your business. We also included various additional resources to further explore these aspects.

- Free access* to the Net Zero Emissions Manager emissions reduction management platform for 6 months, with expert support. You will be able to:
- Calculate your company's CO₂ footprint.
- Receive an Energy Diagnosis of your site.
- Obtain and manage your Decarbonisation Plan.
- Advice and personalised cross-cutting support: onboarding, energy diagnosis and decarbonisation plan.
- Personalised attention and preferential conditions with discounts on electricity connection and smart decarbonisation solutions for Iberdrola’s suppliers, as well as managing applications for grants through Iberdrola's Subsidies Portal.

Iberdrola España encourages its suppliers to improve their environmental, ethical and social performance through actions that promote excellence in their sustainability management.
Suppliers* that are classified as a Sustainable Supplier according to the Sustainability Assessment Model of Iberdrola will be able to access a new line of financing called Sustainable Confirming. This line offers improved discount conditions for the early collection of invoices:

*These Sustainable Confirming conditions are aimed at Spanish SME suppliers who have been awarded contracts worth more than €700,000 and are subject to prior validation by Iberdrola following your request. For other cases, please enquire.
Iberdrola España helps our Spanish suppliers to recover part of the cost of their investments in improving their energy efficiency. If you've generated energy savings or are going to generate them by implementing solutions with us, we can help you monetise them. We support your business with energy savings certificates and pay you for saving.
