I-DE, Iberdrola España's distribution company, reinforcing safety in Castile and León with its annual emergency drill

I-DE, Iberdrola España's distribution company, has carried out its annual emergency drill in Castile and León, designed to assess the response to adverse weather with strong winds that cause incidents with overhead lines in the region.


The exercise verified the effectiveness of the protocols and the coordination of more than 100 people, including in-house staff and contractors, ensuring a rapid and efficient response if the Emergency Plan were activated in real life.


During the drill, the reaction time and response of each unit was monitored to automate processes and improve operations in real situations. Critical systems such as satellite telephones were also verified and proposals to optimise the action plan incorporated.


The deployment included field teams, special vehicles and generators, simulating the measures necessary to speed up service restoration and ensure personnel safety and coordination.

I-DE conducts annual drills to ensure the effectiveness of its Emergency Procedure, which ensures rapid incident resolution and guarantees the highest electricity supply quality for customers in Castile and León.

This exercise highlights the work of the crews and collaborating personnel, as well as the investment in maintenance and vegetation management, which reduces the risk of trees falling in high wind. I-DE currently manages more than 50,000 km of power lines, 15,697 transformer stations and 246 substations in Castile and León, with quality levels above the national average.
