Cofrentes nuclear power plant receives visit from the new president of the Valencian Regional Government, who highlights its role in the region’s industrial competitiveness
The President of the Valencian Government, Juanfran Pérez Llorca, accompanied by, among others, Mario Ruiz-Tagle, CEO of Iberdrola España, and Julio Castro, CEO of Iberdrola Sustainable Energy España.
The new president of the Valencian Regional Government, Juanfran Pérez Llorca, visited Cofrentes nuclear power plant on Monday (January 12) and reiterated the importance of this strategic infrastructure, which produces more than 50% of the region's electricity. Cofrentes is an Iberdrola Generación Nuclear (an Iberdrola España company) facility.
In addition, Pérez Llorca highlighted “the enormous impact” on the competitiveness of the Valencian Region’s industry, which includes “more than 12,000 industrial companies dependent on the electricity supply, generating 184,000 direct jobs and more than 230,000 indirect jobs.”
During the tour of the facilities, Pérez Llorca was accompanied by the third vice-president and regional minister for the Environment, Infrastructure, Territory and Recovery, Vicente Martínez Mus, the CEO of Iberdrola España, Mario Ruiz-Tagle, and the CEO of Iberdrola Energía Sostenible España, Julio Castro, among others.
During the visit, the president defended the continuity of the facility and the need to move towards an autonomous Valencian energy model, highlighting the key role the Cofrentes nuclear power plant plays in ensuring industrial competitiveness and the security of power supply in the region.
