- For the running category registration can also be completed via the Smartchip website, the race's technical partner.

For the runners' category, runners can also complete registration via the Smartchip website, the race's technical partner.Once again this year Iberdrola España and the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) are organising a new edition of the charity walk, which brings together around 10,000 people. This year they are hoping for strong participation from the people of Zamora, as well as from the various sponsors, partners and the media.
The Spanish Association Against Cancer has set itself the goal of exceeding a 70% cancer survival rate in the coming years through research; to this end it has launched a new call for grant applications to support clinical research, talent, innovation and centres of research excellence. Consequently all proceeds from the 18th Walk Against Cancer will be channelled into various projects aimed at meeting the challenge of achieving a 70% survival rate.
As in recent years Iberdrola España is the main sponsor of the 18th Walk Against Cancer. This special support from Iberdrola España enables this initiative — which brings together thousands of people in the fight against cancer — to continue growing and reaching further afield. Because behind every step, every kilometre and every participant lies a commitment to prevention, research and support for people with cancer and their families. Thanks to the support of Iberdrola España as our main partner we can continue to move towards a future with more research, more support and more opportunities for everyone.
This support forms part of the agreement between the two organisations to work together, both on research to improve the diagnosis and treatment of cancer and on raising public awareness of the fight against the disease.
During the press conference held this morning at 11.00 am at the Association's headquarters at Avenida Portugal, 40 to 42, organisers presented full details of the race, including the date and starting times for runners, walkers and cyclists. Organisers also provided details on, amongst other things, the registration fee, where to register, the race route and the great importance of this fundraising sporting event — an initiative that helps advance cancer research.
The press conference was attended by representatives of the sponsors, partners and members of the Association.
Those present included:
- Representatives of the Zamora City Council
- Mr Juan del Canto, Councillor for Sport at the Provincial Council
- Mr Miguel Calvo, IBERDROLA's representative in Castile and León as the main sponsor
- Mr Emilio Díeguez, MMT Seguros
- Ms Laura Huertos, Caja Rural de Zamora Foundation
- ACCU — President Francisco Díez
- Mr Luis Javier Alberca, Secretary of the Official College of Pharmacists of Zamora

A sporting event open to all members of the public
The 18th Walk Against Cancer will feature two categories:
- Competitive race, with an entry fee of €11. The race will start at 11.00 am from the track at the Zamora Sports Complex, and the finish line will also be at the track, under the arch of the Spanish Association Against Cancer.
- Non-competitive walk costing €10 for walkers and cyclists (there is no cycle tour as such), setting off after the runners at 11:05 am from the track at the Zamora Sports Complex and finishing directly in the outdoor car park of the Sports Complex where participants will collect their refreshments and gain access to the stage area.
The route will be the now traditional one, starting from the sports complex's tracks and crossing the River Duero again as last year, covering a distance of approximately 7.4 kilometers for runners and 6.5 kilometers for the non-competitive category (walkers).
For walkers the route will be the same, with the exception that once they reach the riverside promenade they will enter the sports complex car park, where they will cross the finish line (without entering the sports complex's tracks). Similarly for the cycling and roller-skating categories — as there is no alternative route for them, given that there is no dedicated cycle route.
