The collaboration agreement allows both companies to join forces with an offer that simplifies and facilitates the customer's decision to switch to electric mobility, allowing them to enjoy all the advantages of an electric vehicle from the moment of purchase. The transformation towards sustainable mobility will only succeed if the automotive industry, energy suppliers and decision-makers work in the same direction.

For Luis Buil, global director of Smart SolutionsExternal link, opens in new window.  at Iberdrola, "this agreement shows a strategic line of work in line with the planet, fighting climate change and committing to decarbonisation. The agreement with smart will allow customers to have an environmentally sustainable solution, but also economically, with electrification being the most interesting form of saving for households. In addition, thanks to Iberdrola's public charging app, it is becoming easier and easier to travel around the country with an electric car".

Sustainability is one of the key elements of smart's corporate strategy," said Dirk Adelmann, CEO of smart Europe. And this kind of partnership not only strengthens our business strategy in Spain, but also allows us to reinforce our policy of emission-free mobility. Iberdrola is strongly committed to the automotive industry to meet the challenge of removing the barriers to travel with a pure electric vehicle thanks to the numerous charging points installed throughout Spain".

The agreement is based on two main pillars: residential charging and public charging. The two companies will work together to develop residential charging solutions for smart customers through an agreement with ABB, smart's partner and manufacturer of the Terra AC Wallbox charger. Iberdrola will act as installer of the smart Terra AC Wallbox chargers for customers who purchase the chargers via smart's e-Commerce. In addition, Iberdrola will offer smart customers the Electric Vehicle PlanExternal link, opens in new window.  so that they can charge their vehicles with 100% renewable energy.
