Iberdrola celebrates the award received at the 'World Football Summit Industry Awards' with the Spain's National Women's Football Team
- The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and Iberdrola celebrated the award received by the Senior National Women's Football Team at the World Football Summit Industry Awards at an event held at the City of Football in Las Rozas during the national team meeting taking place this week.
The players celebrated the prize and posed for a group photo with CEO of Iberdrola in Spain, Ángeles Santamaría, who thanked the athletes for their hard work: "This is due to and for them".
The World Football Summit, the leading international platform and event for the football industry, awarded Iberdrola the prize for Best Women's Football Initiative. The event, held in Madrid from 24 to 25 September, recognised the company for its substantial and relevant contribution to promoting the development and growth of professional women's football, achieving both visibility and projection.
Iberdrola has become the top sponsor of women's sport in Spain, supporting 16 national federations in which a total of 20,000 athletes take part. In the case of women's football, this season, the company has ratified its support to this sport by renewing an agreement with RFEF to continue sponsoring Spain's Senior National Women's Football Team and the Women's First Division, which is to be from now on called the Liga Iberdrola. Furthermore, the company is now the main sponsor of the Copa de S.M. La Reina and the Under 19s and Under 17s National Teams.
