Iberdrola España signs up young talent as part of the Graduate 2023 Programme

  • Iberdrola España has welcomed 101 new employees to its Madrid offices to join the company.

Iberdrola España today hosted the signing of the 101 new professionals joining the company through the Graduates 2023 Programme at the Iberdrola Madrid Building. After the previous event held on 4 July with the company's CEO, Mario Ruiz-Tagle, where this group was welcomed to the Campus, in September, they will begin their professional careers.

Today, all those who have signed the contract (for many of them, the first in their professional history), have learned about everything related to prevention and the company's social and diversity projects. They were also able to hear real testimonials from current graduates from the different businesses and come into direct contact with the Heads of People and Organisation of each one of them.

In the area of Talent Attraction and Selection, they have taken care of the official welcome and the steps to follow to design their individual development plan during the 2 years of the development programme and, of course, to encourage them in a future full of challenges and successes.

This initiative is aimed at recent graduates or people with less than two years of experience. Those selected to join the company will have a two-year training plan that includes rotations in different areas and businesses of Iberdrola España and at least one international assignment at the group's headquarters around the world.

The areas where they will join are the Networks, Corporate, Customers and Renewables businesses. In all the countries where the company works, within the framework of this international graduate programme, it has hired a total of 252 young people.

"The Graduate Programme allows us to continue to be leaders through the incorporation of the best young talent. They will join a successful professional project, of which they will undoubtedly be a fundamental part", said Hector Arto, Head of Talent Attraction and Recruitment Iberdrola España.

In this way, the company is committed to training the specialists and leaders of the future in view of the shortage of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) professionals expected in the coming years. In this decade, the demand for profiles in these disciplines is expected to increase by up to 14% in Europe and 24% in the United States.

For the selection of candidates, in addition to their academic record and language skills, other factors were taken into account, such as their willingness to work in different countries, including Spain, the UK, the USA, Mexico and Brazil, and their interest in developing in different areas of knowledge.

This third edition of the Iberdrola group's International Graduate Programme is part of the company's commitment to young talent and equal opportunities in the countries where it operates. In addition to completing their training, those selected will have the opportunity to develop their career in a global energy leader in renewable energies, key to the energy transition and decarbonisation.

The creation of quality employment is a strategic pillar of the company's social commitment, which plans to hire close to 11,000 new employees in the group until 2025. In the last year alone, the company has hired more than 5,600 people, 36% of them under 30 years of age.
