Iberdrola España, the Rei Afonso Henriques Foundation -Frah- and the Regional Government of Castilla y León have successfully closed the environmental education program “Without Time”, which has involved 10 schools in the province and more than 300 secondary school students from Zamora during this academic year, with the aim of warning that the fight against climate change is the most important challenge we face.

Participants have discovered how valuable it is to take care of the planet and that climate change is not a game. Through different clues, solving challenges that have tested their awareness and commitment, they have assumed that they are a relevant part of the change.

This initiative aims to raise awareness and educate young people through an activity that has allowed them to reflect and acquire critical awareness.

This innovative, motivating and environmental proposal that we have carried out in our facilities, in a natural environment, in order to involve young people in the action in favor of the environment and the fight against climate change has been a success,” said José Luis Gonzalez Prada, director of the Rei Afonso Henriques Foundation.

For his part, Miguel Calvo, Iberdrola España's delegate in Castilla y León, said that “we are on time to promote the transition to a sustainable model, understanding the role that energy and mobility play in the climate challenge. At Iberdrola Spain we are committed to a decarbonized and sustainable energy model, moving towards a zero-emissions future."

"We encourage these programs that promote awareness, awareness, training and action in relation to the environment, as a strategy for the conservation and management of natural resources. The promotion of responsible and respectful habits and attitudes towards the environment should promote proactive behaviors both towards mitigation and adaptation for climate change and for the sustainable and efficient operation of schools in the province,” stressed Leticia García, territorial delegate of the Junta de Castilla y León in Zamora.

This educational tool is part of the materials developed as part of the project “The change is in your hands” that both entities launched in 2022, addressing the transition to a greener energy model and the modification of consumption habits to help decarbonize the planet and reduce CO2 emissions.

The ten centers that have been part of this challenge have been: Santísima Trinidad de Pinilla, IES Fuentesaúco, IES Aliste, IES Río Duero, IES Alfonso IX, IES Tierra de Campos, IES Arribes de Sayago, IES Poeta Claudio, IES Los Salados and CC San Vicente de Paul, being IES Arribes de Sayago and IES Poeta Claudio the ones that have registered the best score throughout the course, standing as winners.
