Iberdrola places orders for renewable projects in Spain with STI Norland from Navarre
- They will install 9,000 trackers for solar panel orientation in two photovoltaic farms in Cuenca and Cáceres
Iberdrola continues to rely on the local value chain to pursue its commitment to renewable energies in Spain. The company is preparing the development of two new photovoltaic projects in the country, in Cuenca and Cáceres, for which it has already placed orders with STI Norland.
The company, based in Navarre, will install a total of 9,000 trackers between both sites. These devices guide the solar panels, placing them as perpendicular as possible to sunlight at all times. This also optimizes the cleanliness of the modules.
More than 7,900 trackers will be installed at the Ceclavín plant (328 MW) that Iberdrola will build in the province of Cáceres. Once in operation, later this year, the project will provide energy to the 9,000 supply points of the Orange network in Spain.
The remaining 1,100 trackers will be installed in the photovoltaic plant of Olmedilla (50 MW), in Cuenca. The plant, with up to 135,090 modules, will employ up to 120 workers for its construction during peak periods. Once commissioned#8212which is expected to be later this year#8212it will produce clean energy for a population equivalent to 29,091 households/year, avoiding the emission into the atmosphere of 18,000 tons of CO2 per year.
Green energy and revitalization of the local industrial fabric
STI Norland is a manufacturer of photovoltaic components based in Navarre, specializing in the design, manufacture and supply of fixed structures and photovoltaic trackers for large-scale solar projects.
Iberdrola is developing an ambitious renewable investment plan, which foresees the installation of 3,000 MW by 2022. By 2030, forecasts suggest the installation of 10,000 MW.
This development of green energy will revitalize the economy, the industrial fabric and employment in the country.
In the first quarter of the year, Iberdrola has advanced orders to 10,000 suppliers worldwide, worth almost 4 billion euros. Of these, 940 million euros have been awarded to companies located in Spain.
Iberdrola is the leading developer of renewable energy in Spain, with a total installed capacity exceeding 16,500 MW. Globally, Iberdrola's installed renewable capacity is over 32,300 MW, which makes its installations some of the cleanest in the energy sector.
