Iberdrola España opens a 'fan zone' in Benidorm to support the Spanish national team in its conquest of Europe
- The Plaza de SS.MM los Reyes will host the space that the company will set up to watch the group stage match against Italy
- The fan zone will feature a DJ, freestyle football exhibitions by Paloma Pujol, multiple games – table football, photo booth, shoutometer and force platform – and free popcorn, the national team’s training shirts and many other merchandising items
- Iberdrola España was a pioneer in its commitment to women's football and is currently the main sponsor of the senior national team, the U-19 and U-17 teams, as well as the Copa de La Reina-Iberdrola and the Supercopa-Iberdrola, among other competitions

On the eve of the end of the group stage of the highest continental tournament for national teams, Iberdrola España wants to put, once again, all its energy at the service of the Spanish national team. The company has chosen Benidorm to open a fan zone where fans can follow the third match of the group stage live, which will set Spain against Italy next Friday 11 July at 9:00 p.m. at the Stadion Wankdorf in Bern, Switzerland. The company will set up a giant screen in the Plaza SS.MM los Reyes from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Fans of the national team who come to these venues will enjoy a wide range of activities and experiences including DJs, freestyle football exhibitions by Paloma Pujol, multiple games – such as table football, photo booth, shoutometer and force platform – and free popcorn, the national team’s training shirts and other merchandising.
The institutional representative of Iberdrola España in Valencia, Ibán Molina, has encouraged all Benidorm residents and visitors to the city to ‘join this party to support the women's national football team and to continue contributing to the promotion of the women's sport that is giving us so many wins and such good memories’.
The mayor, Toni Pérez, expressed his conviction that Benidorm ‘is going to throw itself into this sporting event and will encourage and massively support Montse Tomé's players in their goal of conquering Europe, in a festive atmosphere, of living together and promoting sport’.
This is not the first time Iberdrola España has mobilised to support the Spanish national team. During the international cup in Australia and New Zealand in 2023, in which Spain won its first star in the senior category, the electricity company organised fan zones in Valencia, Madrid and Malaga to follow the group stage, as well as in Madrid, Valladolid and Cadiz to watch the final.
Nearly a decade of pioneering support for women's football
The company's pioneering support for the sport goes back almost a decade. In August 2016, it became the main promoter of women's football in Spain, giving its name to the league, which was renamed Primera Iberdrola. Since then, the competition began to receive more and more visibility, thanks to television coverage and several of the matches being held in stadiums with maximum capacity.
Iberdrola España is now the main sponsor of the senior national team, the U-19 and U-17 teams, as well as the Copa de La Reina-Iberdrola and the Supercopa-Iberdrola, among other competitions. It also has players such as Alexia Putellas, the first Spanish winner of the Ballon d'Or in 2021 and 2022 and who also won The Best award in the same seasons, Irene Paredes and Vicky López as members of its Iberdrola Ambassadors programme. This initiative brings together 35 leading female athletes who promote female visibility and leadership in sport, to whom the company seeks to give the greatest possible coverage in the media and social networks.
