On the brink of the final, Iberdrola España aims to once again channel all its energy to support the Spanish national team. This time, the company has chosen Oviedo to set up a fan zone where fans can watch live the quarter-final of the competition, where Spain will face Germany on Wednesday, 23 July at 9:00pm CET at the Letzigrund Stadium in Zurich (Switzerland). The company will set up a giant screen in the Plaza de la Catedral from 7:00pm to 11:00pm.

Fans of the national team who visit these spaces will be able to enjoy a variety of activities and experiences. Supporters will be able to follow the match on a giant screen and take part in various games – such as foosball, photo booth, cheer-o-meter, or shoot-o-meter – as well as receive popcorn, training kits for the national team, and many other merchandise items.

This is not the first time Iberdrola España has mobilised to support the Spanish national team. The company has already organised similar initiatives for this continental football tournament. Specifically, on 3 July in Almería, in the Plaza de las Velas; on 7 July in A Coruña, at the Riazor car park; and most recently, on 11 July in Benidorm, in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, attracting hundreds of people at each event.

Close to a decade pioneering support for women’s football

The company’s pioneering support for this sport dates back almost a decade. In August 2016, Iberdrola became the leading promoter of women’s football in Spain, lending its name to the league, which became known as Primera Iberdrola. Since then, the competition has gained increasing visibility, thanks to television coverage and the hosting of several matches in large-capacity stadiums.

Iberdrola España is now the main sponsor of the senior national team, the youth national teams, as well as the Copa de La Reina-Iberdrola and the Supercopa-Iberdrola, among other competitions. The company also supports players like Alexia Putellas, the first Spanish winner of the Ballon d'Or in 2021 and 2022, who also won The Best award in those same seasons, Irene Paredes, and Vicky López, all part of the Iberdrola Ambassadors programme. This initiative gathers 35 leading athletes who promote the visibility and leadership of women in sport, and the company strives to provide the greatest possible media coverage for them through press and social media.
