Second-life batteries for electric buses
PERTE VEC CAPITAL (IRIZAR) project, a second-life battery project for electric buses
The "CAPITAL (IRIZAR)" project is funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU as part of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, within the first call for proposals for the PERTE VEC programme, managed by MINTUR, to give a new use to batteries recovered from electric buses.

PERTE VEC CAPITAL (IRIZAR) project
IRIZAR is leading the CAPITAL project (technological training and industrial development of the bus value chain and associated infrastructure for the decarbonisation of the transport sector with zero-emission solutions), in which Iberdrola España is the energy partner. The aim is to promote technological training and the industrial development of the bus value chain and associated infrastructure to decarbonise transport with zero-emission solutions.
Twenty-one companies, including 13 SMEs, participate in the consortium.
Iberdrola España is part of an R&D project on the second life of batteries, with which Irizar seeks to develop a new product to give a new use to batteries recovered from its electric buses.
Iberdrola España is working on the technical specifications and in-the-field validation of the prototype installed to support high-power charging infrastructure.
