Smart charging management platform for electric vehicles
Learn more about the PLATGESTIR Project (SEAT), a smart charging management platform for electric vehicles
The “PLATGESTIR (SEAT)” project is funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU through the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, under the first round of the PERTE VEC programme managed by the Ministry of Industry and Tourism (MINTUR).

The PLATGESTIR project will help position the electric vehicle as a manageable and controllable asset within the electricity network
SEAT–Volkswagen is leading the strategic initiative FUTURE: FAST FORWARD, where Iberdrola Clientes, a company that forms part of Iberdrola España, is a project partner.
This initiative aims to develop the industrial value chain of the electric vehicle in Spain, mobilising the largest industrial investment in Spain’s history with €10 billion to:
- build the battery gigafactory in Sagunto (the first gigafactory in Spain with a production capacity of 40 GWh a year, creating more than 3,000 jobs)
- adapt the Martorell and Pamplona plants for electric vehicle production
- develop essential EV components and create a broad supplier ecosystem
What’s more, Iberdrola España has been selected as the preferred partner to build a dedicated photovoltaic plant to supply the estimated annual consumption of 1.5 TWh a year.
The PLATGESTIR project consists of a smart charging management platform for electric vehicles that will help position the electric vehicle as a manageable and controllable asset within the electricity network.
Iberdrola España has made progress in:
- defining the platform specifications, optimisation algorithms and smart devices
- defining and designing the system architecture and platform software
- developing the optimisation algorithms, particularly the definition of input parameters
Objectives of the PLATGESTIR Project (SEAT)
This project supports the goals of Future: Fast Forward and contributes to establishing Spain as a European hub for electromobility.
On the one hand, it enables the bidirectional connection of electric vehicles to the electricity network and allows EV batteries to be used as a flexibility resource.
It also seeks to design new models for managing network-connected resources and to develop a tool that connects new electric vehicles to the network, providing a network service and preventing the deployment of storage assets that lack the capacity to deliver added-value services to users.
Finally, the tool will support the expansion of the electric vehicle fleet and the decarbonisation of the transport sector.
