WHAT IS DATADIS?

Datadis, a platform created and driven by the electricity distribution sector in Spain to simplify access to consumption data

In the transition towards more sustainable energy, consumers are taking a more active role in managing their electricity consumption. Users are increasingly aiming to know more about electricity consumption in their homes and businesses to optimise the way they consume.

Datadis
Datadis has emerged from this change and need for information, a platform that brings together information from almost all electricity distributors to make it easy to check consumption data. In this editorial, we’ll tell you what Datadis is, how it works and its goals.

What is Datadis?

Datadis is an initiative created and promoted by Spanish electricity distribution companies, including i-DE, the distributor of Iberdrola España. Through the development of this platform, the distribution companies promote the energy transition and digital transformation of the electricity sector in Spain.

The platform, which is straight-forward, fast and free, allows users to access data on all of their electricity consumption. They can check the information on their electricity consumption even if they have more than one supply point and they are connected to different distributors.

What does Datadis offer?

The Datadis platform offers several advantages. It:

  • Improves energy management, through the possible implementation of energy efficiency measures and making it easy to make savings decisions on electricity bills.
  • Makes simple and free information available, an ideal solution for multi-distributor users who want to visualise the information for their consumption at all their supply points in Spain on the same platform.
  • Universal, neutral, objective and transparent access to user consumption data, with the highest security guarantees.

How can you register with Datadis?

You can register with Datadis in a few simple steps

  1. Go to the Datadis website and click on the ‘Private Area’ button in the top right corner.

  1. If you have not yet registered on the platform, click on 'Register'. You will be redirected to a form where you will have to fill in information such as your ID number, first and last names, email address and the password you will later use to login to the platform.

  1. Once registered, you can go back to the ‘Enter Datadis’ tab and fill in your name and password to log in to your profile.

How can I check my contracts and monitor my electricity consumption with Datadis?

At Datadis you can check which contracts are registered in your name, what supplier they are with and the tariff you pay.

  1. At the top of the menu, select the option 'My supplies'. In this section you can check all the contracts you have. The table will show you the address, the universal supply point code (or CUPS) and the distributor of the area for each point.

  1. You can get more information for each point by clicking on it. This way you can view your consumption and maximum power to know how you use your electricity, and even set the date ranges for your information search.

How can I download the data?

If you want to get a closer look at the electricity consumption data, you can download it using two options

  1. Click on the 'Download' button in the 'Consumption' tab. You can then download the data you’re viewing in XML, CSV or JSON format. The CSV format is ideal for using Excel in a simpler way.

  1. To get detailed data (such as hourly data for several months), go to the list of points, select the contract and click on 'Download' below the table. Choose the data type, the format (we recommend CSV) and the date range. The download will not start immediately; you’ll receive an email with the subject ‘DATADIS - Download available information’ which will include the link to download the data. This may take a few minutes.
