Iberdrola España and the Fundación Infantil Ronald McDonald agree to install charging points at its shelters
- The utility will bear the full cost of installing the chargers as part of its commitment to sustainability and social action
- Once installed, they will be ceded to the foundation, which will be responsible for operating and maintaining them

Iberdrola España has signed a collaboration agreement with the Fundación Infantil Ronald McDonald to install domestic charging points for electric vehicles at the institution's homes for children undergoing treatment for long-term illnesses and their families. This initiative reinforces both organisations’ commitment to sustainability and aims to push forward cleaner mobility that is ever more accessible.
Under this agreement, Iberdrola España will undertake the technical assessment and complete installation of the charging infrastructure at no cost to the foundation. The electricity company assumes this investment as a ‘charity action free-of-charge’, as part of its social action plan and its strategy to speed up electrification of transport in Spain.
The Fundación Infantil Ronald McDonald will provide the necessary space for the installation and will actively work to expedite the work. Once the installation has been completed and commissioning formalised, the foundation will assume ownership of the charging points, as well as their future management, operation and maintenance.

Luisa Masuet, president of Fundación Ronald McDonald España, said: ‘For the Fundación Infantil Ronald McDonald, this agreement with Iberdrola España is another step in our mission to offer the greatest comfort and service to our beneficiary families. With these charging points at all Ronald McDonald houses, families with sick children and who also have electric cars will only have to worry about one thing, dedicating the most time and care possible to their children so they don’t have to worry about anything else’.
This project is a clear example of strategic collaboration with the goal of having a positive impact on society. The new charging points will be exclusively for the access and use of the families of the children in the Foundation's care.
The agreement does not imply any financial consideration between the organisations, underlining its charitable nature and the shared objective of ‘promoting the implementation and use of new sustainable electric mobility models’.
The foundation is dedicated to implementing and sustaining initiatives that work towards the welfare of children, through advice and funding for the creation of the so-called ‘Ronald McDonald Houses’. These are temporary stays for children undergoing treatment for long-term illnesses and their families. The ‘Ronald McDonald Houses’ offer a place of rest and relaxation for the families of hospitalised children. The Ronald McDonald Houses are located at the following locations:
