Iberdrola España strengthens its commitment to the effective promotion of gender equality through sport with the addition of the athlete Ana Peleteiro to its Iberdrola Iberdrola Ambassadors programme. The bronze medallist at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, three-time European champion and triple world bronze medallist in triple jump joins the team of 35 sportswomen and leaders who promote the visibility and leadership of women in sport and to whom the company seeks to gain the largest possible audience in the media and social networks.

The partnership between Ana Peleteiro, a symbol of effort, self-improvement and talent, and Iberdrola España is a perfect fit due to the values that the athlete transmits and that the electricity company has shared and promoted for almost a decade through its pioneering support for sport practiced by women. The Galician athlete will participate in campaigns and institutional actions that seek to inspire new generations and promote a fairer and more inclusive society.

I am very excited to be part of a company that believes in the transformative power of sport, supports it in all its facets and gives visibility to the role of women. Together we will continue to break down barriers,’ said Peleteiro.

Ana joins the family of Iberdrola Ambassadors, made up of sporting role models such as Carolina Marín, Alexia Putellas, Adiaratou Iglesias, Loida Zabala, María Pérez and Paula Badosa, among other women from the nation’s sporting elite.

Two decades promoting equality through sport in Spain

Iberdrola España has been the main promoter of sport practiced by women since 2016. It currently supports more than 600,000 athletes through its sponsorship of 35 national federations and gives its name to more than 100 competitions. Through its commitment, in these nine years it has contributed to an increase of more than 80% in the number of female members of these federations, to almost 820,000.

The encouragement of the electricity company also extends to Paralympic sport. Since its creation in 2005, it has worked with the Spanish Paralympic Committee's (CPE) Paralympic Sports Support Plan (ADOP) to provide our athletes with the best conditions to carry out their training and face their participation in all competitions with guaranteed success.

Iberdrola España, through its Foundation in Spain and together with the CPE, also provides Paralympic athletes who are beneficiaries of the ADOP Plan with scholarships for university and postgraduate training. This agreement aims to facilitate the professional training of athletes with a view to their future integration into the job market once they have completed their careers.

The company is also one of the businesses working with Women’s Universe, a comprehensive initiative for the development and evolution of women in society that implements actions that contribute to social transformation through the values of women's sport.
