Iberdrola España Foundation and Cáritas Bizkaia are launching a social inclusion project for women with dependent children

The partnership between the Iberdrola España Foundation and social organizations stems from the Foundation’s “Social Program—Future with Energy,” which is held annually.
This project aims to improve the lives of single-parent households with children who are at risk of social exclusion and neglect in various towns across Bizkaia.

Social commitment

The program aims to serve more than 200 people, including children and adults.

For more than a decade, Iberdrola España, through its foundation, has collaborated with Cáritas Bizkaia on various projects addressing the social vulnerability faced by different groups in the city, through the Social Program—Futuro con Energía, which the foundation promotes annually through its social call for proposals.

This year, both organizations are collaborating on a project that seeks to promote family education as a means of curbing the intergenerational transmission of poverty, and is specifically aimed at women with dependent children. The project focuses on families with children aged 0 to 6 and offers comprehensive support that combines training in positive parenting, personal development, and social support. Through meeting spaces, practical workshops, and individualized follow-up, participants strengthen their educational, family, and community skills—key to improving their autonomy and social integration.

The program is carried out primarily in various neighborhoods of Bilbao—such as Basurto, Otxarkoaga, and San Francisco—as well as in other municipalities in Bizkaia, including Sestao, Erandio, Getxo, and Durango. It aims to serve more than 200 people, including children and adults, helping to improve the living conditions of families particularly affected by social vulnerability.
