Iberdrola España has taken part in the opening of the first edition of DS – Decarbonized & Sustainable Industry, held at Bilbao Exhibition Centre. From 3 November until Thursday 5, this international event will position Bizkaia and the Basque Country as benchmarks in addressing one of the sector's great challenges: moving towards more competitive, efficient and sustainable models.

The event, which was opened by the Lehendakari, Imanol Pradales, features 100 exhibiting companies and 140 national and international speakers in this first edition. It will combine an exhibition area, a conference programme and various networking spaces.

During the opening ceremony, the Lehendakari focused on the opportunities offered by industrial decarbonisation and highlighted the work under way in the Basque Country to become a European benchmark for clean industry and lead green reindustrialisation on the basis of competitive decarbonisation.

Julio Castro, CEO of Iberdrola Energía Sostenible España, a company that is part of Iberdrola España, stated at the event that "the electrification of energy consumption is a challenge and an opportunity for the competitiveness of industry and for employment in the Basque Country. It is the roadmap that sets the course for the present and future of decarbonisation in Europe. Iberdrola España knows this, and it is already a reality in the Basque Country and a success with the new Labraza wind farm and the upcoming EKIENEA solar PV plant in Armiñón, in Álava."

Iberdrola España's participation as one of the main sponsors of DS Industry is part of an event that seeks to connect companies' real needs with technological solutions, build alliances and turn the challenges of decarbonisation into business opportunities.
