Northgate is promoting the electrification of its customers' vehicle fleets, focusing on the flexible leasing of industrial vehicles, where Northgate is a leader. The company's commercial proposal goes beyond the vehicle itself, and includes all the services related to it, such as charging infrastructures.
As part of the agreement reached between the two companies, Iberdrola will install more than 140 charging points for electric vehicles at the 27 offices of the flexible leasing company throughout Spain. These electrified spaces will be operational by early 2023 and will be financed through the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism and the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, within the framework of MOVES FLOTAS launched by the IDAE.
Northgate's network of charging points will be powered by self-generated solar energy, with solar panels installed by Iberdrola and supplemented by external energy from renewable sources, also provided by the energy group.
With this strategic agreement, Northgate takes a further step towards becoming a comprehensive mobility provider that addresses all the challenges associated with electric mobility, making these charging points available to its electric vehicle leasing customers at its headquarters. Moreover, these are mainly located in industrial areas, where there is currently a greater deficiency in access to electric vehicle charging points. Specifically, in the case of its headquarters, a public charging hub will be installed, which will allow access to all types of electric vehicle users when they are not being used by employees.
"At Iberdrola we want to help our customers in the decarbonisationExternal link, opens in new window. and transition to a sustainable economy, and to this end we are committed to the electrification of transport and our own generation of renewable energy through cutting-edge solutions that are close to all citizens, such as the installation of solar panels, or the installation of charging infrastructure to convert their fleets into zero-emission vehicles. Agreements such as this one with Northgate help us to continue advancing in this direction and reinforce our position in the sustainable mobility sector", says Luis Buil, Global Director of Smart Solutions at Iberdrola.
"At Northgate we aim to accompany our customers in the transition from combustion to electric vehicles, and with this agreement, we can do so in a comprehensive manner and with the greatest guarantee of service, by relying on a leading supplier in the energy sector. This alliance with Iberdrola will allow us to accelerate the electrification of commercial vehicle leasing fleets, a segment in which Northgate is a leader, and we are confident that the joint initiatives will strengthen our customers' knowledge and commitment to sustainable professional mobility", said Jorge Alarcón, CEO of Northgate Renting Flexible.
Another of the services that Northgate will offer thanks to this agreement is the installation by Iberdrola of charging points for Northgate customers and employees at their own facilities or homes. In addition, both companies will collaborate in offering special discounts on the utility's public charging application, as well as on green energy supply.
The agreement also enables Northgate to activate its decarbonisation plan. Within this strategy, the flexible leasing company proposes initiatives related to self-consumption, energy efficiency and savings and the supply of green energy. For this reason, the agreement also includes the installation of solar panels at ten more of the company's headquarters. So far, seven of Northgate's 27 locations already have solar panels.
With this alliance, the companies will promote electric mobility through a comprehensive and joint solution for their customers, with Northgate's leadership in the field of flexible leasing and Iberdrola's leadership as a benchmark in the energy sector in our country.
