The actions are part of the so-called 'Pyrenees Plan', in coordination with the Government of Navarre.

The deployment of resources to undertake actions to reinforce the infrastructure of the Navarrese Pyrenees has consisted of:

  • New overhead and underground line with a total length of 8 km between the towns of Artieda, Sansoain, Navascues and Ustés, which provides significant environmental improvements.
  • Replacement of 28 transformer substations in the Romanzado area to enable them to be upgraded to 20 kV voltage. This action will improve the quality of service and the capacity of the grid.
  • Renewal of the connection of the new line to the Ustés RTS (substation).

All this will contribute to improving and reinforcing the electricity supply in the Navarrese Pyrenees. Thanks to the constant work of the great team that makes up Iberdrola's distribution company, electricity reaches our homes 365 days a year. They are not only responsible for repairing any specific incident, but also for constant maintenance and guaranteeing that the electricity supply reaches both large cities and small towns.

A level of service quality above the national average

Iberdrola España's distribution company has improved the quality of the electricity supply it offers its customers in Navarre by 32% by the end of 2022. The index that measures this service - Interruption Time Equivalent to Installed Power (TIEPI) - accumulated to date is below 35 minutes. In this way, the company achieves the best year-end value in its history.

These figures are the result of i-DE's investments in new electrical infrastructures and the maintenance and renewal of existing ones, as well as its ambitious digitalisation plan.

The company, which maintains a level of service quality in the region above the national average, has in recent years undertaken an ambitious plan to digitalise its electricity grids, converting its more than 1.5 million meters and the infrastructure that supports them into smart meters, incorporating remote management, supervision and automation capabilities.

Iberdrola España's distribution company will continue to promote its electricity grid infrastructures in Navarre, which are key to guaranteeing the transition to a carbon-free economy, and despite already offering its customers the best quality in the system, it has set a target of improving its supply quality by 10% by 2025. This improvement in quality will also have a positive impact on the affordability of electricity supply for customers and will enable further improvements in service.

In Navarre, i-DE manages more than 8,200 km of low and medium voltage lines and more than 1,740 km of high and very high voltage lines. It also has 3,648 transformation centres in service and 87 substations.
