This training aims to make the national enforcement agencies aware of the risk that is invisible to the untrained eye
The Government Delegate in Castilla y León, Nicanor Sen; the Colonel of the Guardia Civil Command in Valladolid, Andrés Velarde; and the Director of i-DE, Iberdrola España's distribution company, in Castilla y León, Óscar Villanueva, inaugurated a technical seminar this morning. It took place at Iberdrola España's corporate offices in the city of Valladolid, and was on the risks and prevention measures for the tasks that members of the Guardia Civil (national law enforcement force; military branch) may have to carry out in the event of an emergency, incident or theft in or near electrical installations.
During the training, which was attended by around thirty members of the Guardia Civil, they were explained how to identify an electrical installation, its topology, basic concepts of electricity, the effects of electrical current on the human body, risks and prevention when working in electrical installations and possible actions in or around them. They also visited the Company's substation in Valladolid.
This training session, held by Seguridad Corporativa, i-DE and Guardia Civil, was also attended by Iberdrola España’s Delegate in Castilla y León, Miguel Calvo, and Iberdrola España’s Territorial Head of Security, Laureano Arias.
Then, José Antonio Pascual and Ciriaco García, Head of the UTD Valladolid rural and Coordinator of Técnicos PRL Zona Oeste of i-DE, respectively, were in charge of giving the training.
With this type of initiative, the Company once again demonstrates its commitment to training, prevention and the responsibilities that derive from it, with the ultimate aim of making the law enforcement agencies aware of a risk that is invisible to the untrained eye.
i-DE closed last year reaching the best year-end value in its history in terms of service quality
i-DE closed 2023 in Castilla y León reaching the best year-end value in its history in terms of service quality. Iberdrola España's distribution company manages more than 50,000 kilometres of power lines and has 15,754 transformer stations in service and 249 substations.
In recent years i-DE has undertaken an "ambitious" plan to digitalise its electricity grids, converting its more than 1.5 million metres in the region and the infrastructure that supports them into smart metres, incorporating remote management, supervision and automation capabilities.
The digitisation of the electricity distribution grid will provide more data to implement additional energy efficiency and sustainability measures, in a way that is committed to ambitious and urgent climate action. The deployment of smart grids makes it possible to respond to new models of grid use and offer a better service to citizens.
