Iberdrola España has also made purchases from more than 400 suppliers in Castilla and León worth €223M. The company's main suppliers in the region include companies such as Copsa, Kepler, Transformadores Gedelsa, AOC, REBI, Surya and Tecinsa.
Iberdrola España reaffirms its innovative and renewable leadership in Castilla and León, which is consolidating its position as an important centre for clean energy developments in the company's investment cycle to 2025, where it already operates more than 6,000 megawatts (MW), making it the autonomous community with the most 'green' megawatts installed by the company. It also promotes renewable energies as a driver for rural development and in this way the small towns emerge as a guarantee for the future, contributing to a sustainable recovery and creating local jobs.
The company is currently building the Iglesias wind farm and has recently commissioned Buniel (104 MW), Iberdrola España's most powerful wind farm to date. Its blades are more than 70 metres long and the height of the wind turbines is twice that of the Burgos Cathedral, it generates enough clean energy to supply the equivalent of 70,000 homes a year and will prevent the release of 39,000 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere per year. Each machine has a unit power of 5.2 MW, more than seven times that of the first wind turbines installed in our country more than two decades ago. In the province of Burgos alone, the company has recently built or is building more than 650 megawatts between eight wind farms.
Iberdrola España is currently commissioning two photovoltaic facilities in the region totalling 400 MW: Velilla and Virgen de Areños III. It also started up its first photovoltaic plant in the province of Burgos in the region, Revilla-Vallejera (50 MW), and has completed construction of the first hybrid wind and solar photovoltaic plant in Spain. The high-power charging points have been developed and operated by Iberdrola | bp pulse since last year.
The company is promoting solar communities that will allow more than 8,000 families to benefit from the advantages of renewable self-consumption without the need for their own installation or investment.
This type of community self-consumption allows users located within a radius of up to two kilometres to consume the 100% renewable energy generated by the photovoltaic installations by signing up for it and with guaranteed savings. The company has approximately 60 projects throughout Aragon (26 in Huesca, 2 in Teruel and 32 in Zaragoza).

Iberdrola España is building the Finca San Juan wind farm in Arico, on the island of Tenerife. With a capacity of 17.3 MW, it will produce clean, renewable energy equivalent to the consumption of around 16,000 homes, which is equal to the population of around the size of La Orotava. When the park is operational, its production will reach 56GWh/year, preventing 28,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
Also in Tenerife, Iberdrola España operates the Chimiche wind farm. Developed with a group of small local entrepreneurs, it has a capacity of 18.3 megawatts (MW). The farm currently supplies clean energy to a population equivalent to 15,000 homes, preventing the release of 33,000 tonnes of CO2 per year. It also has its first photovoltaic plant in the Canary Islands since 2023. With 7 MW, Llanos Pelos III, in Fuerteventura, supplies clean energy to more than 4,000 homes. The plant has received the Sustainability Seal from the Spanish Photovoltaic Union (UNEF) for all the environmental measures undertaken in the project.

Iberdrola España reaffirms its innovative and renewable leadership in Cantabria. The El Escudo wind farm has been given the green light to continue with the preliminary construction work for the installation of the renewable infrastructure, after the developer Biocantaber – in which Iberdrola has a stake – received the administrative authorisation for construction.
The facility, currently under construction, will have a capacity of 101 MW, generate renewable energy equivalent to the annual consumption of 95,300 households and prevent the emission of 45,000 tonnes of CO2 per year.
It is the first park in Spain to apply BIM (Building Information Modelling) technology, a methodology that allows detailed control of the execution of the works and, among other aspects, the application of measures to reduce impact. This digital model is being developed by the Cantabrian company INGECID, linked to the Santander School of Civil Engineering.
The project involves an investment of €120M, and a significant part of the construction budget is committed to local companies and will create up to 200 jobs during peak periods. The wind farm activates a long value chain between local companies in various fields such as civil works, electrical engineering, logistics, maintenance, security and telecommunications, as well as professionals who are responsible for supervising the work to avoid any impact on nature or our cultural heritage.
Likewise, the company has been fulfilling its support measures for the local community since before the works began. In this respect, for the second year running, the company has paid for English classes and tutoring for the children of Campoo de Yuso. In addition, with the entry into operation of the park, local residents will be able to benefit from the best electricity tariffs in Spain, as well as a series of other measures aimed at favouring quality of life and economic activity to stem the flow of people out of these rural areas.
