Iberdrola España continues to promote innovative solutions that facilitate citizens' access to energy efficiency measures.

The cooperatives of Campo de Criptana — Bodegas Símbolo, Virgen del Carmen and Santísimo Cristo de Villajos — together with Iberdrola España's Institutional Representative in Castilla -La Mancha, Oscar Narros, and Joaquín Polo, Product Manager at Iberdrola Smart Solutions, have taken part in an information session aimed at homeowners and building owners interested in improving the energy efficiency of their properties through measures subsidised via the Energy Saving Certificates (ESCs) scheme, a tool that enables energy consumption to be reduced and progress towards a more sustainable model.

The initiative, part of Iberdrola España's commitment to the energy transition and improving efficiency in the building stock, focuses on roof insulation in buildings constructed before 1982, a measure that can lead to savings of up to 30% in heating consumption.

During the event the operation of the CAE system was explained; this system allows energy savings achieved through efficiency measures to be monetised, enabling users to benefit from grants that can cover up to 100% of the cost of the work in certain cases, with the application process managed by Iberdrola España.

ESCs are electronic certificates that attest to energy savings associated with an energy efficiency measure. This scheme, also promoted by the Government of Castilla-La Mancha, enables energy savings to be monetised, recouping part of the cost of energy efficiency investments through a financial return by selling the savings achieved.

Initiatives of this kind reinforce Iberdrola España's role as a driving force behind efficient electrification and sustainability, helping to reduce household energy demand, improve thermal comfort and lower emissions associated with energy consumption.

The call for applications was aimed at both Iberdrola España customers and new users interested in accessing this type of solution, which enables the energy efficiency of homes to be improved without the need for a high initial investment, thanks to the use of the Energy Saving Certificates generated by the project.

Through initiatives of this kind Iberdrola España continues to promote innovative solutions that facilitate citizens' access to energy efficiency measures, contributing to the development of more sustainable and resilient cities, in line with decarbonisation and energy transition objectives.

Reducing emissions in homes

50% of CO2 emissions in Europe are linked to heating (buildings + industry) and 33% come from buildings — 2025 data — according to the European Environment Agency. Various European programmes advocate accelerating the transition to renewable energy.

In addition to these thermal insulation systems there are the aerothermal systems promoted by Iberdrola Spain. Aerothermal systems are heat pumps that extract energy from the air via a thermodynamic cycle to provide heating in winter, cooling in summer and hot water all year round.

Compared to traditional boilers, aerothermal systems, being a renewable energy source, avoid combustion and its associated emissions whilst achieving energy savings of up to 70% for heating when used with underfloor heating and up to 40% with radiators. Furthermore this technology is safer as it eliminates the need for storage and dependence on fuel.
