- Iberdrola España was a pioneer in its commitment to women's football and is currently the main sponsor of the senior national team, the Under-19 and Under-17 teams, as well as the Copa de La Reina-Iberdrola and the Supercopa-Iberdrola, as well as other competitions

On the eve of the start of the European Championship, Iberdrola España once again wants to put all its energy at the service of the Spanish national team, which makes its debut in the tournament on Thursday 3 July at 9 p.m. against Portugal. The company will open three fan zones at key points in Almeria, A Coruña and Benidorm so that fans can watch the group stage matches that will pit Spain against Belgium and Italy as well as Portugal live.
The first stop for fans of the national team will be Calle Belén S/N, in the Plaza de las Velas in Almería, where Iberdrola España will set up the first of these areas to watch from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Thursday 3 July the match between Spain and Portugal at the Stadion Wankdorf in Berne, Switzerland at 9 p.m.
For the second match, against the Belgian national team on Monday 7 July at 6 p.m. at the Stockhorn Arena in Thun, Switzerland, the company will open a fan zone in the car park of the Riazor stadium in A Coruña, on Avenida de Buenos Aires S/N, which will be operational from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The Plaza de SS.MM. los Reyes 1 in Benidorm will host the third fan zone, where fans of the world champions can cheer on their players during the match against the Italian team on Friday 11 July at 9 p.m. again in the Stadion Wankdorf in Bern, Switzerland. Iberdrola España will be welcoming fans from 7 p.m. until the end of the match at around 11 p.m.
Fans of the national team who come to these spaces will be able to enjoy a wide range of activities and experiences, including DJs, freestyle football exhibitions by Paloma Pujol, multiple games – such as table football, photo booth, shoutometer and force platform – and popcorn, national team training shirts and other merchandise.
This is not the first time Iberdrola España has mobilised to support the Spanish national team. During the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand in 2023, in which Spain won its first star in the senior category, the electricity company organised fan zones in Valencia, Madrid and Malaga to follow the group stage, as well as in Madrid, Valladolid and Cadiz to experience the final.
Nearly a decade of pioneering support for women's football
The company's pioneering support for the sport goes back almost a decade. In August 2016, it became the main promoter of women's football in Spain, giving its name to the league, which was renamed Primera Iberdrola. Since then, the competition has received more and more visibility thanks to television coverage and the celebration of several of the matches in stadiums with maximum capacity.
Iberdrola España is now the main sponsor of the senior national team, the U-19 and U-17 teams, as well as the Copa de La Reina-Iberdrola and the Supercopa-Iberdrola, among other competitions. It also has players such as Alexia Putellas, the first Spanish winner of the Ballon d'Or in 2021 and 2022 and who also won The Best award in the same seasons, Irene Paredes and Vicky López as members of its Iberdrola Ambassadors programme. This initiative brings together 35 leading athletes who promote female visibility and leadership in sport, to whom the company seeks to give the widest possible coverage in the media and social networks.
