Iberdrola España drives self-consumption in Jaén with 29 solar communities
- The company has more than 120 solar communities in Andalusia and leads group self-consumption in Spain, where it has already exceeded 1,000 installations

Iberdrola España reinforces its commitment to communal self-consumption in Andalusia commissioning 29 solar communities in the province of Jaén, which will enable more than 4,350 families to access local and 100% renewable energy. These installations, with a total capacity of 2,685 kWp, are in fourteen municipalities: Bailén, Arjonilla, Alcalá la Real, Úbeda, Linares, Andújar, Torredonjimeno, La Carolina, Castillo de Locubín, Villanueva del Arzobispo, Jaén, Torreperogil, Villacarrillo, Mengíbar, Torredelcampo and Martos.
This type of community self-consumption allows users within two kilometres of the solar community to benefit from 100% renewable self-consumption without the need for their own installation at their home and without making any investment.
More than 1,000 solar communities in Spain
In Spain as a whole, Iberdrola España has already exceeded 1,000 solar communities, giving more than 100,000 families the opportunity to consume their own power. In Andalusia alone, the company has more than 120 active installations as part of its energy transition strategy with a direct impact on Andalusian households and municipalities.
Currently, more than 3.5 M people in all Spanish provinces live within the sphere of influence of an Iberdrola España solar community, which are located on the roofs of different types of buildings such as churches, schools, factories and shopping centres.
