The festival is set to tour various Spanish towns over the coming weeks.

The Valencian towns of Ayora and Zarra are hosting the latest stops on the Summer Microfilm Festival organised by the Vente a Vivir a un Pueblo platform and Iberdrola España. The initiative forms part of the company’s commitment to supporting the cultural vitality of rural communities while showcasing the quality of life that small towns have to offer.

The first event, held in Ayora, brought together local residents and visitors for a free open-air cinema evening featuring a selection of award-winning micro-short films, each less than a minute long, from competitions organised by Iberdrola España and Cultura Inquieta. Among the highlights were films paying tribute to the volunteers who responded to the cold drop, recognising their dedication and the vital support they provided to affected communities.

The festival continues next Thursday at 9.45 pm in Zarra’s Town Hall Square. Organised in collaboration with the town councils of both municipalities, the initiative transforms summer evenings into opportunities for residents and visitors to come together, with free popcorn and soft drinks provided during the screening.

Over the coming weeks, the Summer Microfilm Festival will continue its tour of towns across Spain, bringing culture to rural communities while helping to showcase them as attractive places to live, work and enjoy leisure time.

Iberdrola España’s commitment to the Ayora-Cofrentes Valley

Iberdrola España is currently building its first two solar plants in the Ayora-Cofrentes Valley, representing an investment of more than €250 million and adding a combined installed capacity of 366 MW. The projects will help strengthen the Valencian Community’s energy self-sufficiency.

The Cofrentes I (184 MW) and Ayora 1 (182 MW) solar plants, both located in the province of Valencia, will generate more than 650,000 MWh of clean, competitive, locally produced electricity each year—enough to supply around 200,000 homes while avoiding approximately 52,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually.

Construction of the facilities is also providing a significant boost to the local economy. At peak activity, around 1,300 people will be employed on the projects, the majority of them from the surrounding area.

Iberdrola España already has a strong presence in the region through the Cortes–La Muela hydroelectric complex, home to Europe's largest pumped-storage hydroelectric power station—an energy storage facility that helps guarantee security of electricity supply—and the Cofrentes nuclear power plant.
