At just 23 years old, Iris Tió has already established herself as one of the leading names in artistic swimming and one of Spain’s standout athletes on the international stage. Iris Tió, artistic swimmer

Iberdrola España is strengthening its Ambassadors programme with the addition of artistic swimmer Iris Tió. Through this initiative, which brings together 35 athletes and role models, the company aims to highlight the achievements and leadership of women in sport while reinforcing its long-standing commitment to equality through sport, a commitment it began more than two decades ago.

At 23, Iris Tió is already one of the leading figures in artistic swimming and one of Spain’s most prominent athletes internationally. A member of the national team from a very young age, she has competed in two Olympic Games and won bronze in the team event at Paris 2024.

Over the course of her career, she has claimed more than 20 medals across World Championships, European Championships and the European Games. At the 2025 World Championships in Singapore, she made history by becoming the first Spanish woman to win the world title in the solo free routine, placing Spanish artistic swimming at the very top of the sport. During the same championships, she also won gold in the duet free and mixed duet free events.

Trained at Club Natació Kallípolis, renowned for producing some of the sport’s greatest talents, Tió combines technical precision with artistic expression — qualities that have established her among the world’s top artistic swimmers and made her a leading figure for women’s sport in Spain.

“Being an Iberdrola Ambassador means supporting women’s sport and representing values such as equality, hard work, leadership and perseverance. It also gives greater visibility to artistic swimming and strengthens my ability to inspire younger generations,” said Iris.

Iris Tió now joins a team of Iberdrola Ambassadors that includes leading Spanish athletes such as Alexia Putellas, Teresa Perales, Carolina Marín, María Pérez, Adiaratou Iglesias, Loida Zabala, Ana Peleteiro, Paula Leitón, Ana Alonso, Nicole Wiggins and Paula Badosa, among many other elite athletes.

Iberdrola España, a pioneer in promoting equality through women’s sport

Since 2016, Iberdrola España has played a leading role in supporting women’s sport in Spain. The company currently sponsors 35 national sports federations and lends its name to more than 100 competitions. Through its commitment over the last decade, it has helped increase female membership across these federations by more than 80%, to nearly 820,000.

Each year, the Group presents the Supera Awards, recognising and raising the profile of the best initiatives launched in Spain to promote gender equality through sport. The awards, each worth €50,000, are divided into the categories of Supera Base, Supera Competition, Supera Inclusion, Supera Social, Supera Outreach, Supera Rural Development, Supera Health and Wellbeing, and Supera Veterans. Applications for this year’s edition remain open until the end of May.

The company’s support also extends to Paralympic sport. Since 2005, it has collaborated with the Spanish Paralympic Committee (CPE) through the ADOP Paralympic Support Plan, helping provide athletes with the best possible conditions for training and competition.

In addition, Iberdrola España, through Fundación Iberdrola España and in partnership with the CPE, offers university and postgraduate scholarships to Paralympic athletes included in the ADOP programme. The initiative is designed to support athletes’ academic and professional development and facilitate their future integration into the labour market after their sporting careers.

The company is also one of the organisations collaborating with the Universo Mujer tour, a broad initiative focused on the development and advancement of women in society through projects that promote social transformation through the values of women’s sport.
