Iberdrola España once again supports the Zangarun charity race in Zamora, the event ‘with the most heart’

Ricobayo has once again become a hub for charity sport with the staging of this event, which brought together around 250 participants from various parts of Castile and León, as well as from Galicia, Portugal and, in particular, the province of Zamora.
The initiative has raised approximately €2,500, all of which will go to the ‘Corriendo con el Corazón por Hugo’ Association, reinforcing the charitable nature of the event.
The Zangarun has once again received the support of Iberdrola España, alongside Muelas del Pan Town Council, Zamora Provincial Council and the Caja Rural de Zamora Foundation, organisations committed to the social development of the region.

Athletes and hikers take part in the 2026 Zangarun charity event in Muelas del Pan, Zamora

The Zangarun Solidarity 2026 returned this Sunday to the municipality of Ricobayo (Zamora), which once again fully backed this sporting and charitable event. Around 250 athletes and hikers took part in a race that combines mountain trail running with the promotion of the natural and tourist appeal of one of the most iconic landscapes in the province of Zamora.

The initiative, supported in particular by Iberdrola España, Muelas del Pan Town Council, Zamora Provincial Council and the Caja Rural de Zamora Foundation, raised approximately €2,500. The full amount will be donated to the ‘Corriendo con el Corazón por Hugo’ Association to support research into rare diseases.

For yet another year, Ricobayo has established itself as the venue for one of the most popular charity events among trail running enthusiasts, attracting participants from across Castile and León, as well as from Galicia, Portugal and, of course, the province of Zamora, reaffirming its committment as the race “with the most heart.”

Iberdrola España’s representative in Castile and León, Miguel Calvo, highlighted that this collaboration forms part of the Group’s 125th anniversary celebrations, a milestone that reflects “the company’s deep roots in the region and its historic commitment to Zamora, where it was founded over a century ago.” In this regard, he emphasised that Iberdrola España continues to drive the energy transition from this region towards a renewable and competitive model, contributing to sustainable rural development, people’s well-being and respect for the environment.
