Iberdrola España today opened Espacio Instalador (Installer Space), a state-of-the-art technical centre located at its San Agustín de Guadalix campus in Madrid, designed to support the training of installers across three different areas: aerothermal systems, electric vehicle charging points and solar photovoltaic.
The opening ceremony was attended by the CEO of Iberdrola España, Mario Ruiz-Tagle, alongside the Madrid regional government’s councillor for Environment, Agriculture and Interior, Carlos Novillo, and the director generals for Energy Transition and Circular Economy, Housing and Rehabilitation, Training and the Public Employment Service. Also present were the mayor of San Agustín de Guadalix, Roberto Ronda, and from the business sector the presidents of AGREMIA, Emiliano Bernardo, and APIEM, Ángel Bonet, the secretary general of CEIM, as well as associations and manufacturers from the air-conditioning, electric mobility and solar self-consumption sectors.
Iberdrola España’s Espacio Instalador has been created due to the urgent need for specialised installer profiles to drive electrification.
The centre is open to students from installer associations, manufacturers, Iberdrola España staff and vocational training centres across Spain. Around 1,000 people are expected to participate in person each year and up to 50,000 through the digital version. Classes will be delivered by the training centres and associations themselves and will complement their existing training pathways.
For the digital version of the space, which is already being used by more than 260 vocational training centres nationwide, the entire facility and all its equipment have been scanned so that students can complete their training cycles in virtual reality using digital twins. This digital format will also be available to installer associations across Spain.
The centre features the latest-generation equipment from leading manufacturers and has been designed to evolve continuously, incorporating the sector’s most relevant technological advances on an ongoing basis.

“Driving electrification through networks, renewables and storage is the way to increase competitiveness and generate qualified, stable and high-quality employment. Spain has competitive advantages: abundant renewable resources, cutting-edge technology, significant talent and leading, innovative companies like Iberdrola,” said Mario Ruiz-Tagle, chief executive officer of Iberdrola España.
The CEO added that “this installer space has been created as a meeting point for associations, manufacturers, developers and training centres to train the professionals who will drive electrification. We are in the best sector at the best moment! We have the technology, the talent and the opportunity. Now it is time to make the most of it!”
Carlos Novillo, the regional government’s councillor for Environment, Agriculture and Interior, congratulated the company on its commitment to training, “which places the region at the forefront in terms of skilled installation professionals”. He also highlighted “the importance of electrification in supporting economic activity and development, as well as the necessary progress in electric mobility, an objective the regional government is promoting through incentives for vehicle purchases and charger installation.”
