The Paiporta Aesthetic and Rhythmic Gymnastics Club has opened its new facilities thanks to its project "Sin techo, pero con alas: empoderando a las futuras campeonas", which won the Iberdrola Supera Base Award, worth €50,000, for bringing together families, coaches and pupils around this discipline after losing their facilities due to the cold drop.

The award-winning project, which the club has now successfully implemented, involved renting a suitable hall for sporting activities and fitting it out with the essential elements to ensure the athletes can train safely: a technical floor, lighting, toilets, safety measures, accessible entrances, etc.

For Ana Araes, the club's president, "this project has meant everything to us as we have finally been able to open our club — our safe space, our sporting home — and so we are very moved and grateful to Iberdrola Spain for the award that has enabled us to make this a reality".

For his part, Ibán Molina, Iberdrola España's institutional representative in the Valencia region, highlighted "the resilience of the club's members, who have been able to overcome everything they went through following the cold drop, which destroyed their facilities, and are now happy once again doing what they love and growing as athletes and as people thanks to the company's support".

The Iberdrola Supera Awards recognise and promote the projects that best foster equality through sport in Spain. Since their inception in 2020 more than 5,000 entries have been received. Each category comes with a prize of €50,000, totalling €400,000, to support and expand the objectives of the winning initiatives in the following categories: Health and Wellbeing, Veteran Women, Grassroots, Competition, Social, Inclusion, Promotion and Rural Development.

Iberdrola España, a pioneer in promoting equality through sport

Since 2016 Iberdrola España has been the main driving force behind women's sport in Spain. It currently supports 35 national federations through its sponsorship and lends its name to more than 100 competitions. Through its commitment over the past decade, it has helped increase the number of female members of these federations by more than 80%, to nearly 820,000.

The electricity company's support also extends to Paralympic sport. Since its creation in 2005, it has collaborated with the Spanish Paralympic Committee's (CPE) Support Plan for Paralympic-Level Sport (ADOP), with the aim of providing our athletes with the best possible conditions for their preparation and participation in top-level competitions.

Furthermore Iberdrola España through its Foundation and in collaboration with the Spanish Paralympic Committee awards university and postgraduate scholarships to Paralympic athletes benefiting from the ADOP Programme, thereby facilitating their professional training and future integration into the labour market following their retirement from sport.

The company is also one of the organisations supporting the Universo Mujer programme, a comprehensive initiative aimed at the development and advancement of women in society through the values of sport.
