Top artists and Spain’s largest-ever drone show to headline the Iberdrola Group’s 125th anniversary celebrations in Bilbao

The Iberdrola Group, including Iberdrola España, will celebrate its 125th anniversary in Bilbao this Friday, 12 June, with a free public music festival and a drone show unlike any previously seen in Spain.

Between 4 pm and 10 pm, Doña Casilda Park will host a major concert event featuring performances by Juanes, Antonio Orozco, Rigoberta Bandini and Süne.

Later, between 11.00 pm and 11.30 pm, Spain’s largest-ever drone show will take place. Featuring 1,500 drones, the display will be visible from a number of locations across Bilbao.

Festival programme and logistics

The festival will begin at 4.00 pm and continue until 10.00 pm. The first performance, at around 4.30 pm, will be by Süne, one of the most prominent artists on the contemporary Basque music scene. Rigoberta Bandini will follow at 5.35 pm, bringing her distinctive style and stage presence to the event. Antonio Orozco, one of Spain’s most established pop artists, will perform at approximately 7.10 pm, before Juanes closes the evening at around 8.45 pm.

To ensure good visibility throughout the venue, seven large screens will be installed across different areas of Doña Casilda Park. Given the large crowds expected, attendees are encouraged to arrive early, plan their journeys in advance and make use of public transport wherever possible.

Drone show logistics

The evening will conclude with a spectacular drone display between 11.00 pm and 11.30 pm, with Iberdrola Tower serving as a key visual reference point. For approximately 20 minutes, 1,500 drones will create illuminated 2D and 3D figures in the skies above Bilbao in a large-scale aerial performance choreographed to music and accompanied by specially designed visual effects. Powered entirely by renewable energy, the show will combine technology, innovation and creativity in a unique celebration of the Group’s anniversary.

Although the display will be visible from much of the city, the best viewing locations include Mount Artxanda, Avenida de las Universidades, the area surrounding Euskalduna Bridge, Plaza Euskadi and Plaza Txema Aguirre. Following the concerts, attendees will be directed in stages towards designated viewing areas via clearly signposted routes designed to facilitate movement and ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all.

Services and transport

Throughout the day, visitors will have access to information points, food and beverage outlets, medical assistance, toilet facilities, accessibility services for people with reduced mobility, a child care area and a Punto Violeta.

A dedicated cleaning, maintenance and groundskeeping operation will also be in place throughout the event to ensure all venues are left in optimal condition.

To guarantee safety and facilitate the smooth running of the celebrations, special mobility measures will be implemented. From 5.00 pm on Friday, pedestrian access to Abandoibarra Park — between Deusto Bridge, the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao and Mazarredo Avenue — will be restricted. Vehicle access will be restricted from 7.00 pm, when the Guggenheim and Zubiarte tram stops will also be closed. Normal traffic conditions will be restored at midnight once the drone show has concluded.

The event forms part of the “125 Light Years” programme, through which the Iberdrola Group is celebrating its anniversary throughout 2026 with initiatives aimed at employees, customers, shareholders and the general public. Key highlights include the anniversary concerts in Madrid (27 June), featuring Lenny Kravitz, Manuel Carrasco, Ana Mena and Álvaro de Luna, and in Valencia (28 November), featuring Estopa and Mafalda Cardenal, alongside exhibitions, community initiatives and the illumination of iconic buildings.
