Driven by Iberdrola España, the "Carrera de las Ciudades" (Cities Race) brings together nearly a thousand people in Ourense to support research and reforestation efforts

Iberdrola España collaborates in the "Carrera de las Ciudades" held in the town of Vilamartín de Valdeorras in Ourense

This Sunday, over a thousand people gathered in Vilamartín de Valdeorras (Ourense) to participate in the "Carrera de las Ciudades" against Pancreatic Cancer, a solidarity event in which Iberdrola España actively participated.

The initiative donates all of its proceeds to pancreatic cancer research and has become a key event in the fight against this disease, mobilizing thousands of people each year. Francisco Silva, Institutional Delegate of Iberdrola España in Galicia, and Miguel Ángel López, head of Iberdrola España for the Sil River Basin, accompanied the participants throughout the day.

As a symbolic gesture and commitment to the environment, each participant received a small bag of seeds to scatter along the route through areas affected by the wildfires of last August, thereby contributing to the reforestation of the damaged forests.

The route took runners and walkers through Arnado, Valencia do Sil, and Ribeira, areas particularly hard-hit by the summer fires. At the end of the event, participants were able to enjoy a communal paella at the O Barco Pavilion.

The race was driven by the Valdeorras Pancreatic Cancer Association (ACAPAVAL) and promoted by the Pancreatic Cancer Association (ACANPAN), the Spanish Association of Pancreatology (AESPANC), and the Spanish Association of Gastroenterology (AEG). The organization was carried out by ACAPAVAL, a non-profit regional entity. In addition to Iberdrola España, the Galician Athletics Federation and the Valdeorras Athletics Delegation also collaborated.
