The joint venture Iberdrola | bp pulse, a leader in ultra-fast public charging in Spain and Portugal, is building a new charging station (hub) in the secure lorry park at the Ciudad del Transporte in San Cibrao das Viñas, Ourense, one of Galicia's main industrial and logistics hubs.
Located in one of Galicia's most important industrial areas, this hub promotes the electrification of heavy-duty fleets, as well as serving light vehicles. The facility has eight charging points powered by 100% renewable energy and certified with guarantees of origin. Specifically, it has two dedicated points for heavy-duty vehicles with a power output of up to 600 kilowatts and a further six points for light vehicles also rated at 600 kilowatts each.
This configuration, which allows for the simultaneous charging of up to two lorries and six vehicles, enables lorries to recharge in under an hour, providing a range of up to 400 kilometres. For light vehicles, charging can be completed in an estimated time of between 15 and 25 minutes, sufficient to provide a range of around 350 kilometres.
As an added bonus, the facility offers specific services for hauliers such as showers, a launderette, toilets and a convenience area, enabling them to make the most of their stop-over time whilst their vehicles are charging.
Ignacio Vázquez, Northwest Region Business Manager and Heavy-Duty Transport Development Manager at Iberdrola | bp pulse, highlights that “the electrification of heavy-duty transport is a strategic lever for decarbonising mobility and establishing a charging network that truly serves the needs of the real economy. This hub in San Cibrao das Viñas strengthens our commitment to providing high-power charging solutions specifically designed for trucks, complementing the network we have already deployed for light vehicles”.
