I-DE, Iberdrola España's distribution company, teaches firefighters from the Salamanca Provincial Council about safety around electrical installations

I-DE, Iberdrola España's distributor, with trainers from its technical units and personnel specialised in prevention, has given the Salamanca Provincial Council Fire Brigade three technical workshops focusing on the risks and safety measures necessary to intervene in the event of an emergency or incident at or around electrical installations.


A total of 49 members of the Fire Brigade participated in the training sessions, which addressed key aspects such as how to identify electrical installations and their characteristics, basic concepts about electricity, the effects of an electric current on the human body, associated risks and preventive measures, as well as possible actions to be taken at or around the installations.


These sessions, inaugurated by the head of i-DE's Salamanca Sector, Félix Pablo Sánchez, and organised in coordination with Iberdrola España's Security and Resilience Department, concluded with a visit to the Villamayor substation. The Security Department also plans to carry out new training courses throughout 2026 with other business areas at different power generation facilities.


With these types of initiatives, the company proves its commitment to training, prevention and its responsibilities to raise awareness among the fire brigade of risks that are invisible to the untrained eye.

In Castile and León i-DE manages more than 50,000 km of power lines, has 15,697 transformer stations in service and 246 substations


In recent years, the company has undertaken an ambitious plan to digitise its electricity grids, converting its more than 1.5 million meters in the region and the infrastructure that supports them into smart meters, incorporating remote management, monitoring and automation capabilities. The digitisation of the electricity grid will provide more information to implement additional energy efficiency and sustainability measures in line with a commitment to ambitious and urgent climate action. 


Investing in and developing electricity grids, the backbone of the energy transition, are a tool for attracting industry and creating jobs.

En los últimos años, la compañía ha acometido un ambicioso plan de digitalización de sus redes eléctricas, donde ha convertido sus más de 1,5 millones de contadores en la región y la infraestructura que los soporta, en inteligentes, incorporando capacidades de telegestión, supervisión y automatización. La digitalización de la red de distribución eléctrica va a permitir más información para implantar medidas adicionales de eficiencia y sostenibilidad energética, de forma comprometida con una acción climática ambiciosa y urgente. 


La inversión y el desarrollo de las redes eléctricas, columna vertebral de la transición energética, son una herramienta para atraer industria y generar empleo.
