Iberdrola España reaffirms its support for the Almagro International Classical Theatre Festival in its 49th edition

As part of its commitment to culture and the promotion of artistic heritage, the company is renewing its support for one of the leading events dedicated to Spain's Golden Age theatre, taking place from 2 to 26 July

Iberdrola España is reaffirming its commitment to culture and the arts by renewing its partnership with the Almagro International Classical Theatre Festival, which returns for its 49th edition from 2 to 26 July. Once again, the festival will transform the town of Almagro, in the province of Ciudad Real, into one of Spain's leading cultural destinations for the summer.

The renewal of the partnership was marked at a ceremony held at the Espacio Áurea, attended by Laura Gil, Head of Sponsorship at Iberdrola España, and the festival's director, Irene Pardo. Both expressed their satisfaction at continuing a collaboration that began in 2024, during the festival's 47th edition.

By renewing its support, the company reinforces its commitment to one of Spain's foremost performing arts festivals. The Almagro Festival plays a vital role in preserving, promoting and reinterpreting the legacy of Spain's Golden Age while showcasing the cultural richness of Castilla-La Mancha to audiences both in Spain and abroad.

Iberdrola España returns to the Espacio Áurea

As in previous years, Iberdrola España will once again have a prominent presence at the Espacio Áurea, located in the Old Renaissance University. Since becoming one of the festival's official venues in 2006, it has grown into one of the event's most emblematic performance spaces.

The venue, which welcomed more than 6,500 spectators during last year's festival, will host a varied programme combining theatre, music and dance, bringing together classical works with contemporary interpretations and reaffirming its place as one of the festival's flagship venues.

Programme highlights include Lope de Vega's La vengadora de las mujeres, presented by Teatro del Temple and the National Classical Theatre Company. The legacy of Pedro Calderón de la Barca will also be celebrated through La vida es sueño… en música, a production that reimagines one of the masterpieces of Spain's Golden Age through music.

The programme also features family-friendly and visually driven productions such as Va de Bach, by Aracaladanza, alongside internationally acclaimed performances including Written in Sound, by the Shanghai Huai Opera Troupe, and Romances. Between East and West, which combines early music, Mediterranean traditions and intercultural dialogue. Another standout production is El amor brujo: Falla on fire, performed by the La Mancha Philharmonic Orchestra, offering a powerful reinterpretation of one of Manuel de Falla's most celebrated works.

Iberdrola España: promoting art and culture

Through its Foundation, Iberdrola España is committed to preserving, conserving and enhancing Spain's historical and artistic heritage. Among its flagship initiatives is the Lighting Programme, which focuses on improving the interior and exterior lighting of landmark heritage buildings, helping to preserve and showcase sites of outstanding historical and artistic value.

Since 2012, the programme has invested more than €1.2 million in Castilla-La Mancha, enhancing the lighting of 15 heritage landmarks. These include Albacete Cathedral, the Fuente Agria in Puertollano (Ciudad Real), the interior of the Santa María la Blanca Synagogue in Toledo, the Basilica of Nuestra Señora del Prado in Talavera de la Reina, the exterior of Sigüenza Cathedral and its Plaza Mayor, the Roman Bridge in Talavera de la Reina, the historic windmills of Campo de Criptana (Ciudad Real), the Henares Bridge in Guadalajara and the San Antón Bridge in Cuenca, among others.

Iberdrola España's commitment to Castilla-La Mancha

Iberdrola España continues to play a significant role in the socio-economic development of Castilla-La Mancha. In 2025, the company generated an economic impact of €860 million in the region, representing a 19% increase on the previous year. Its tax contribution rose by more than 14% to over €208 million, while purchases from 257 regional suppliers totalled €325 million. The company also provides stable, high-quality employment for around 550 people across Castilla-La Mancha.
