Iberdrola España launches the seventh edition of the Iberdrola Supera Awards

The main new feature of the 7th Iberdrola Supera Awards is the addition of two new categories, Supera Health and Wellbeing and Supera Veterans, to the six that have characterised these awards in previous editions

Women's sports

Iberdrola España is launching the seventh edition of the Iberdrola Supera Awards, which recognise and promote the best projects launched in Spain to promote gender equality through sport. The deadline for submitting nominations will remain open from today, Wednesday 8 April, until June.

The main new feature of the 7th Iberdrola Supera Awards is the introduction of two new categories:

Supera Health and Wellbeing, to recognise and promote initiatives that, through sport, improve people's health and wellbeing, whether through exercise, nutrition or mental health programmes.
Supera Veterans, which will recognise activities, projects and/or programmes that stand out for promoting sport among adult women, encouraging them to continue competing and improving their performance in an environment suited to their age.

These are in addition to the six categories that have characterised these awards in previous editions:

Supera Base, which recognises initiatives that promote grassroots sport among girls up to the age of 16.
Supera Competition, which recognises initiatives that encourage the participation of women (aged 16 and over) in competitive sport.
Supera Social, which recognises initiatives that promote the integration of women at risk of social exclusion through sport.
Supera Inclusion, which highlights exemplary projects for the participation of people with disabilities in sport.
Supera Dissemination, which honours initiatives that convey the importance of women's role in sport and publicise the achievements of our female athletes.
Supera Rural Promotion, which recognises initiatives that promote sport among girls and women in municipalities with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants.

A jury of honour comprising leading figures from the worlds of sport and the media such as Carolina Marín, Teresa Perales, Iker Casillas, Sandra Sánchez, Ona Carbonell, Susanna Griso and Alexia Putellas will assess the submitted projects. Each of the categories mentioned will receive a prize of €50,000, making a total of €400,000.

In its sixth edition the Iberdrola Supera Awards matched the record number of entries previously set in 2024, with 1,300. In total, since the first awards ceremony in 2020, the company has received more than 5,300 projects.

Iberdrola España, a pioneer in promoting equality through sport

Since 2016 Iberdrola España has been the main driving force behind women's sport in Spain. It currently supports 35 national federations through its sponsorship and lends its name to more than 100 competitions. Through its commitment over the past decade, it has helped increase the number of female members of these federations by more than 80% to nearly 820,000.

The electricity company's support also extends to Paralympic sport. Since its creation in 2005 it has collaborated with the Spanish Paralympic Committee's (CPE) Support Plan for Paralympic Sport (ADOP) with the aim of providing our athletes with the best conditions for their preparation and participation in top-level competitions.

Furthermore Iberdrola España, through its Foundation and in collaboration with the Spanish Paralympic Committee, awards university and postgraduate scholarships to Paralympic athletes benefiting from the ADOP Plan, thereby facilitating their professional training and future integration into the labour market following their retirement from sport.

The company is also one of the organisations collaborating with the Universo Mujer programme, a comprehensive initiative aimed at the development and advancement of women in society through the values of sport.
