Soria to have Iberdrola España's first solar community incorporating a battery storage system
- This improvement optimises the use of the generated energy, adapting to the hours of peak domestic consumption
- Thanks to more efficient use of solar energy, families can increase their savings through a local and sustainable source
- The new facility, the second in Soria, will be located on the roof of Palux and will prevent the emission of around 1,180 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere over the next 30 years

Solar community launched by Iberdrola España in Castilla y León
Iberdrola España and Palux, S.L. have joined forces to promote a pioneering solar community in the capital of Soria, focusing on innovation and energy efficiency.
The new installation, the second to be marketed by the company in the province, is Iberdrola España's first solar community in the country to incorporate a battery storage system.
This improvement optimises the use of the generated energy, adapting to the peak domestic consumption periods. Thanks to a more efficient use of solar energy, families can increase their savings through a local and sustainable source.
It will be located on the roof of this company in the Las Casas Industrial Park and will prevent the emission of nearly 1,180 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere over the next 30 years.
In addition to reducing the electricity bill of this business, which specialises in the manufacture of bed bases, local residents within a 2-kilometre radius will be able to benefit from the advantages of renewable self-consumption, without needing to invest in infrastructure.
This community self-consumption model allows users to share the 100% renewable energy generated from a single photovoltaic installation located near their homes, in this case, on the roof of this company.
Iberdrola España is making the investment for this installation, which will consist of 327 solar panels, with a total capacity of 180 kilowatts (kW), enough to produce nearly 215 megawatt-hours (MWh) annually.
Thanks to this solar community, around 320 families will be able to participate and save on their electricity bills by consuming some of the energy produced by this installation locally. For its part, Palux, S.L., a pioneer in such renewable installations, will achieve a savings of up to 30% on its electricity bill.
"This pioneering initiative is a significant milestone that marks Iberdrola España's commitment to innovation in energy solutions, sustainability, and our commitment to the regions where we operate by making self-consumption accessible, in this case, to 320 families in Soria, incorporating for the first time a battery storage system," said Celiano García, Commercial Director of Iberdrola in Castilla y León.
Meanwhile, the manager of Palux, S.L., Eva María Contreras, emphasises that "this decision not only represents a step forward in terms of environmental responsibility but also brings significant benefits for the company's efficiency and savings."
Leader in self-consumption in Spain
As part of its commitment to accelerating the energy transition, Iberdrola España not only promotes photovoltaic self-consumption by integrating it into the energy system through its networks, but it also leads the customer management market in this field in the country.
The collective self-consumption solutions developed by Iberdrola España have made self-consumption accessible to any customer, whether they have a roof or not. Customers in this segment also benefit from the Solar Plan, a competitive electricity rate during the hours when there is no sunlight, which is when they need to consume energy from the grid, as during the day they self-supply from their own installation.
Solar self-consumption systems can lead to an annual bill saving of 30% for residential communities, 50% for businesses and companies, and up to 70% for single-family homes. These savings come through three channels: energy produced by the installation that the user does not need to buy, compensation for unused energy that is fed back into the grid, and savings from lower taxes.
Regarding the possibility of compensating for energy fed back into the grid, Iberdrola España's customers benefit from the Solar Cloud service, which allows them to compensate for excess energy beyond the energy term, even redirecting it for use in another residence.
