Iberdrola España and Porcelanosa strengthen their partnership and exceed 11 megawatts of self-consumption installations

The largest photovoltaic installation, with a capacity of 3.6 megawatts, is commissioned at the Vila-real headquarters.
In addition two new photovoltaic installations at Gamadecor will join those already operating at various locations in the town as well as at shops in Leganés and Alcorcón (Madrid), Santander, Tomares (Seville) and León.
This type of sustainable solution helps to boost the company's competitiveness and reduce its energy dependence on fossil fuels.

Iberdrola España and Porcelanosa are expanding their partnership in the areas of competitiveness and energy sustainability with the commissioning of a new self-consumption photovoltaic installation next to the group's headquarters in Vila-real (Castellón) and the commissioning of two further installations for its Gamadecor centre.

These new facilities will enable the partnership between the two companies in the field of self-consumption to exceed 11 megawatts of capacity, distributed across the multinational's various sites in Vila-real, as well as at its stores in Leganés and Alcorcón (Madrid), Santander, Tomares (Seville) and León.

The ground-mounted self-consumption plant next to Porcelanosa's head office — its largest photovoltaic installation with a capacity of 3.6 megawatts — began construction in March 2026 and will enable two of Porcelanosa Group's four factories to be self-sufficient in energy. At the same time both companies will expand Gamadecor's self-consumption facilities with two rooftop installations totalling over 0.5 megawatts.

For his part Pablo Albiol, Director of Technical Facilities at Porcelanosa Group, emphasised that these new facilities "represent a further step in the decarbonisation process the company is driving forward. Our aim is to continue reducing the carbon footprint of our operations and to increase the use of renewable sources in our production processes, helping to offer increasingly sustainable products".

Thanks to this contract Iberdrola España is consolidating its position as a strategic partner to the industry on its path towards electrification, with solutions that help reduce dependence on the volatility of fossil fuels and meet sustainability and emissions reduction targets.

In line with its commitment to driving the energy transition Iberdrola España not only promotes self-consumption by facilitating its integration into the electricity system via its networks but is also a leader in managing customers using this model in Spain.

Self-consumption solar installations can generate annual savings on energy bills of up to 30% for owners' associations, around 50% for companies and businesses and up to 70% for single-family homes. This financial benefit is achieved through three factors: the energy produced by the installation itself, which eliminates the need to purchase it; compensation for surplus energy that is not consumed and is fed into the grid; and a reduction in tax liability.
