Iberdrola España awarded contract to supply electricity to the Regional Government of Extremadura for the next two years

The framework agreement includes the comprehensive management of energy supply to educational establishments and public buildings
It also stipulates that the electricity supply service must be backed by a guarantee of origin (GoO)

Iberdrola Clientes, a company belonging to Iberdrola España, has been awarded the contract to supply electricity to the Regional Government of Extremadura, according to a decision by the Regional Ministry of Finance.

The contract, which runs for two years and is renewable for a further year, covers the supply of electricity to the regional government's offices, its public bodies and affiliated public sector entities, as well as to educational establishments such as secondary schools, state schools and specialist training centres within the autonomous community.

Having received the highest score in the tender process, the awarded service encompasses comprehensive management of the energy supply, including the management of third-party grid access contracts (ATR) and representation before the distributor in relation to service quality complaints and meter readings. The total amount for the two-year period is €19,287,643.02 (excluding VAT), according to the award decision by the Regional Ministry of Finance and Public Administration.

Furthermore the agreement incorporates value-added services focused on energy management, including consumption and billing monitoring tools, technical support, management and offsetting of self-consumption surpluses and optimisation of active and reactive power, amongst others.

Boosting renewable energy in Extremadura

With this contract award Iberdrola España has stated that it will guarantee an electricity supply "that meets standards of quality, safety and efficiency, reinforcing its commitment to more sustainable energy management as well as consolidating its leadership and commitment to the regionW.

Iberdrola España is also the company responsible for supplying electricity to the municipal offices and facilities of Mérida City Council, having secured the contract in 2025.

In line with this commitment to sustainability the electricity supply must be guaranteed to come from renewable sources or high-efficiency cogeneration, in accordance with the regulated system that certifies the origin of the electricity in line with current sectoral regulations.
