Mi Iberdrola customers can donate their balance to the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC)
- The long-standing relationship between the two organisations was strengthened in 2015 with the launch of Juntos contra el cáncer (Together against cancer), an initiative that has raised more than €6 million for cancer research.
- Key activities include the charity races against cancer held in five cities: Madrid, Bilbao, Zamora, Murcia and Valladolid. The 15th edition will take place on 25 October.

Iberdrola España and the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) are expanding their partnership. From now on, energy company customers enrolled in the Mi Iberdrola loyalty programme will be able to donate their accumulated balance to the association, helping fund research into better cancer treatments and diagnosis.
The Mi Iberdrola programme was created to reward customer loyalty. It is completely free and offers direct financial benefits for staying with the company, using services such as public EV charging, installing products such as aerothermal heating systems, self-consumption systems or home charging points, and shopping with partner retailers.
In addition to donating to the association, customers can continue to redeem their accumulated balance across a wide range of sectors, including technology, supermarkets, leisure, home, hotels, sport, restaurants and fashion. The company also runs prize draws offering users exclusive experiences, including concerts, museum visits and national and international sporting events.
“This initiative marks another milestone in our long-standing relationship with the association and enables our customers to continue supporting cancer research through Iberdrola España. It also expands the ways in which customers can use their Mi Iberdrola balance and reinforces the programme’s evolution towards a more customer-focused, useful and socially committed offering, supporting customers in the causes that matter in their everyday lives,” says María Sampedro, Head of Customer Loyalty at Iberdrola España.
“Initiatives such as this one from Iberdrola España enable the Association to pursue one of our main strategic priorities: supporting and promoting research to help make thousands of life projects a reality,” says María Laviña, Corporate Director of Membership and Economic Development at the Spanish Association Against Cancer.
Iberdrola España and the AECC have a long-standing relationship that was strengthened in 2015 with the launch of Juntos contra el cáncer. Through this initiative, energy company customers can voluntarily donate €0.25, €0.50 or €1 via their energy bills. Iberdrola doubles the amount donated and transfers the entire sum to the association. Since the initiative began, more than €6 million has been raised for cancer research.
Iberdrola España also collaborates with and supports the AECC through various initiatives, including the five annual charity races against cancer held in Madrid, Bilbao, Zamora, Murcia and Valladolid. The 15th edition has just been announced and will take place on 25 October.
The two organisations also regularly hold talks, workshops and awareness campaigns for the energy company’s employees, focusing on prevention and the importance of adopting healthy lifestyle habits to minimise the impact of cancer.
