Guillermo Raga, Director of i-DE in the Eastern Region, during the 22nd edition of the i-DE Network Business Meeting in the Valencian Community
During the sessions, the electrification of the economy was highlighted as a strategy for sustainability, efficiency, and industrial development. Guillermo Raga emphasized "the great opportunity we have to industrialize the country in a sustainable way by betting on the electrification of activities that currently depend on fossil resources. Initiatives such as promoting electric vehicles or using electricity to generate heat in residential and industrial environments are clear examples of how we can move towards a cleaner, more efficient model, committed to the future of the planet."
It was also highlighted that the energy transition offers numerous benefits both as a country and as a region, as we have abundant natural resources like the sun and wind, essential for generating clean and competitive energy. In this context, the director of i-DE pointed out that all growing industries "will need more electricity, which requires increased investments in networks. For this, it is necessary to clearly understand the regulatory framework in order to build the business plan with which to face this new period (2026-2031) with ambition."
"Smart electrical networks are the backbone for making the energy transition possible, as they integrate renewables and connect large industrial projects. Therefore, betting on electrification and modern, resilient networks is an essential condition for achieving the decarbonization of the economy, advancing the energy transition, and guaranteeing a sustainable, competitive, and high-quality future for society," Guillermo Raga emphasized.
100 million investment for the il·lumina plan
During the various meetings, a video was presented showcasing the evolution of the il·lumina plan, in which Iberdrola España is investing 100 million euros to redesign the electrical grid affected by the DANA, adding resilience measures and incorporating the latest digitalization standards.
For this, the company has created a team of 35 people dedicated exclusively to the project, which involves approximately 1,000 workers from contractor companies, most of which will be local, benefiting more than 650,000 customers in the area.
The creation of a department dedicated exclusively to this plan is allowing i-DE to continue developing the rest of its investments in the Valencian Community as planned.
More than 70,000 km of electrical lines in the Valencian Community
In the Valencian Community, i-DE manages more than 70,000 km of electrical lines, operates 25,000 service transformation centers, and 177 substations. The company maintains an optimal service quality level for its customers, both individuals and businesses.
Thanks to these installations, i-DE now has a modern, digitized network in the region, prepared to meet the needs and challenges posed by the electrification of the economy. The investment efforts made by i-DE in the Valencian Community over many years have also resulted in a significant improvement in the quality of supply offered to its customers.
