Iberdrola España installs new electric vehicle charging points in Balaguer
- The facility, located at the Taller Mecànic Gea car park with capacity for four vehicles, brings the company's total to 170 charging points in the province of Lleida

Iberdrola España has installed electric vehicle charging infrastructure in Balaguer (Lleida) in collaboration with Taller Mecànic Gea, continuing its commitment to promoting sustainable mobility. With the commissioning of this facility, the company now operates 170 charging points across the province of Lleida.
The infrastructure features two 50-kilowatt (kW) charging points and one dual 22 kW charger, allowing up to four electric vehicles to charge simultaneously. The installation was made possible through an agreement between Iberdrola España – responsible for supplying, installing, and managing the equipment – and the local business, which provided the parking space where the chargers are located.
Users of these facilities charge their electric vehicles with 100% renewable energy, backed by Guarantees of Origin (GoOs). Additionally, these points feature POS payment terminals to accept direct credit and debit card payments.
The charging points are listed on the Iberdrola Public Charging App (Iberdrola Public Charging App), where users can view their real-time location and operational status, reserve slots, and pay directly from their smartphones.
Pioneers in sustainable mobility
As part of its drive to promote and simplify access to electric vehicle charging, Iberdrola España has surpassed 11,500 operational charging points across Spain. In doing so, the company is advancing the electrification of mobility across the country while accelerating the transition towards an efficient, emissions-free economy independent of fossil fuels.
Regarding charger types, 22 kW units represent the largest segment, with approximately 6,500 points, accounting for 60% of the network. This lower-cost option is designed for longer-duration charging while shopping, visiting leisure centres or working. The network also features more than 1,500 operational ultra-fast charging points (100 kW or higher), allowing drivers to recharge up to 80% of their battery in under 15 minutes during a journey, as well as 1,500 fast-charging points (50 kW) offering a balance between charging speed and competitive pricing.
The high-power charging points are operated by Iberdrola | bp pulse, a joint venture formed in December 2023 between Iberdrola and bp, a leading ultra-fast charging operator at Spanish service stations.
