Photovoltaic installation on the rooftops of Madrid
Iberdrola España has installed photovoltaic self-consumption panels at the Spanish Congress of Deputies. The project consists of three photovoltaic installations with 112 solar panels and will enable annual self-consumption of 90 MWh. In this way, it will cover the energy needs of offices, meeting rooms and workspaces.
The solar panels have been placed in different areas of the extension buildings of the Chamber. The installations integrate discreetly and harmoniously into the aesthetics of the buildings and their surroundings, blending modern and traditional elements.
With this self-consumption initiative, the emission of 17.8 tonnes of CO₂ into the atmosphere will be avoided thanks to the production of clean energy during central hours of the day, coinciding with peak demand at workplaces. This infrastructure, carried out by Iberdrola España with its installer SOLPROLUX and in collaboration with the Projects and Infrastructures team of the Spanish Congress of Deputies, is one of the institution’s main sustainability initiatives.
Iberdrola España, leader in self-consumption in the country
Iberdrola España leads the photovoltaic self-consumption market in Spain. As part of its commitment to accelerating the energy transition and developing new products that improve efficiency and energy savings, in 2015 the company became the first in its sector to integrate self-consumption solutions into its service portfolio.
Self-consumption solar systems can reduce the annual bill by 30% in the case of residential communities, by 50% for companies and businesses, and by up to 70% in single-family homes. This saving is achieved through three channels: the energy produced by the installation that the user does not need to purchase, the compensation for surplus energy not consumed and fed back into the grid, and the savings generated by lower taxes.
