Iberdrola España has surpassed 11,000 charging points in operation in the country, after commissioning more than 2,500 points in 2025, representing more than 25% of all new installations carried out during the year. The company now accounts for 22% of the available public infrastructure, reinforcing its leadership and consolidating its position as the most extensive charging network in the country.
In comparison, while the Spanish network has grown by 10% to reach 50,000 operational charging points by the end of 2025, according to AEDIVE, Iberdrola España's network has grown by 30% over the same period.
In addition to the 11,000 points, there are a further 2,500 that are already in various stages of installation and commissioning. In total, the company has supplied enough energy to circle the earth more than 200 times by car, with all this energy coming from 100% renewable sources with a guarantee of origin (GdOS), which is more than 60% higher than in 2024. In this way, in addition to promoting the advancement of the electrification of mobility in the country, it contributes to the transition towards a more efficient and emission-free economy that is independent of fossil fuels.
In terms of chargers, the most numerous type, with 6,500 points, is the 22 kW charger, which accounts for 60% of the networks. This lower-cost type is designed for longer convenience recharges, such as when shopping, enjoying a leisure centre or working. Also noteworthy are the more than 1,500 ultra-fast charging points (100 kW or more) already in operation, which allow drivers to stop and charge 80% of the battery in less than 15 minutes to continue their journey, and the 1,500 fast charging points (50 kW) that offer a balance between fast charging and a very competitive price.
The high-power charging points are operated by Iberdrola | bp pulse, an alliance created in December 2023 by Iberdrola and bp, the leading ultra-fast charging company at service stations in Spain.
Accessibility at charging points
Iberdrola España's fast chargers have “Autocharge” functionality, which facilitates a smoother charging experience by allowing you to start charging the battery simply by taking the charging connector and plugging it into the car's socket, without the need for the usual preliminary steps.
In addition, to facilitate accessibility to its infrastructure, Iberdrola España also has its electric mobility app, the highest rated in the sector, which allows users to locate nearby charging points, check their status in real time, reserve a point so that it is available on arrival, and start charging with any payment method (payment in the app, by bank card, by recharge card (RFID) and by autocharge). Users can also check their consumption history or set the optimal route for stops on their journeys.
In addition, the company has launched new services to improve the driver experience, such as a user community where users can access the latest news and developments in the sector and useful information for electric vehicle drivers, a help section with videos and tips for new users of the app, and the ‘In the area’ section with information on services near the charging point, restaurants, shops or supermarkets, so that users can make the most of their charging time.
Another notable new feature is the possibility of using Mi Iberdrola credit to pay for electric vehicle charging via the app, allowing users who are members of the Iberdrola España loyalty programme to save money on their charging.
