Iberdrola España will supply energy to the municipal facilities and installations of the Mérida City Council

Iberdrola España has been awarded the contract for the electricity supply to the municipal facilities and installations of the Mérida City Council in Extremadura. The agreement covers a total of 370 supply points, with an estimated annual consumption of 8 gigawatt-hours (GWh), encompassing almost all the facilities under the municipal authority.


As highlighted by the Commercial Delegate of Iberdrola España in Extremadura, Borja Cañas, this award is of great significance because the energy company will be responsible for supplying the capital of the region, consolidating its commitment to the area and its leadership.


With this award, Cañas stated, Iberdrola España will ensure an electricity supply “under conditions of quality, safety, and efficiency, reinforcing its commitment to more sustainable energy management.”

Almost all municipal facilities in Mérida

The supply will comprehensively cover all energy needs for the municipal facilities, including municipal offices and administrative departments, social and cultural centers, sports facilities, pavilions, and swimming pools. The contract also covers schools, high schools, and educational centers, as well as street lighting, traffic lights, ornamental fountains, parks, and gardens.


Furthermore, Iberdrola España will provide the city council with a web platform that will allow them to track and control the billing of the facilities, optimize the contracted power, and analyze consumption data to establish a strategy for energy savings and optimization of the municipal supplies.


The contract has an initial duration of one year, with the option for a one-year extension, ensuring the continuity of the service under the same economic and technical conditions established.
